It is only 9:30 on the east coast

Bruins have morning skate at the Garden today

As a friend just said, if Florida had a chance to go into a lab and design the perfect defenseman to exploit with their forecheck and place him on the Bruins, it would be Joel Edmundson.
They already exploited Boston last playoffs. Play an aggressive forecheck, pound them into submission. Nothing on this roster now is better at handling that than last year

I know they do that from time to time, but do you know why they'd opt to hold it at the Garden?
They usually do around the deadline plus they're honoring the Cup team tonight in the last heritage night so I'm sure it is easier to have those guys go to the Garden to meet the guys.

You play Forbort - or worse, Edmundson - against that forecheck you get what you deserve. It's about being able to get the puck out quickly. These two are deplorable at that.

You think deploying a bunch of Gryz is going to solve that? How well does Gryz protect the front of the net? It’s not just the forecheck, after they get the puck back to the defenseman they crash the net. Gryz isn’t going to clear the front of the net. We had a bunch of slow foot defenseman in Miller and Mcquaid, yet they made life miserable in front of their net and we won the cup.

I don’t think this is a bad suggestion. I just wonder if he would be willing to come here. I believe he has a full NMC. So if he has a choice between “contenders” I doubt Boston would be his top choice.

I do think he can still play though.
My brother was at a charity event with him and he said Boston was the best city to play in. I think he might if Florida didn't work out.

Yup, besides being an NHL regular for the past 7 years, having a Stanley Cup ring, going to another final and being assistant captain on that team and being a beast in the playoffs, same guy :help:

I would still take Middleton and Lauzon over him but there is nothing wrong with Joel Edmundson here as a bottom pair D, better than Grizz, Forbort or Shattenkir

He’s not the same player any more. Yes, he’s mean, but that’s it. He’s injury prone, slow, and a prolific turn over machine. At this point in his career, Forbort is a much better option.

NHL regular? He hasn’t played a full season ever. Long time ago, when the Blues won the cup, his minutes got reduced big time compared to the season prior. Might be why they won.

You wouldn't have to clear the front as much if you could get the puck out of the zone.

What we need is a Gryz/Forbort hybrid lol

With most of the arm's race out west, I have even less stress about Sweenius only doing depth moves. Some years it just lines up for you.

Keeping our existing picks and prospects is a GOOD thing. I want to see Lysell, Poitras, Lohrei etc as Bruins for a decade. My body is ready.

Btw I think Debrusk is gonna stay. I may have to change my contest entry there.
