Just a question of when he'd bring back more in return. Offseason opens up the whole league and organizational cap space.

Is the goal to maximize regular season wins or playoff wins.

If it's the former, then sure keep both and I'm sure we'll finish top 2 in the Atlantic again.

If it's the latter, I just don't see how you can have 5-7mil sitting on your bench for every playoff game and expect to win.

The reason this team is contending this year especially is because of stellar goaltending from these 2. They are like 2 rooks on a chessboard. Keep. Trade grez somehow and call up zboril / regula .

Ten years ago, if you had told me that in the year 2024, goalie hugs were more important to the fans than cap/roster issues, I would of said WTF.......... but here we are.

Look what happened in the playoffs last year. Having two great goalies is a luxury. We can't afford that luxury with the holes we have in the rest of the lineup.

Love Ullmark, but something has to give.

The problem in the playoffs last year was that they hesitated in taking advanage of that luxury. If anything it should reinforce the value of having two #1 tenders you can lean on.

Depends if the teams asking are on his list.16 team list he can veto has to be respected.Until Swayman is signed this is a moot conversation because I can't see Sweeney cornering himself with Swayman reps knowing he has no goalie now ..

This far along I'm sure the teams who are on Linus list are well aware by now and Sweeney sure in the hell isn't going to waste his time talking with those who aren't. He could be signed already, and Sweeney may not want to play his hand, but either way if reports are right its eminent. Usually where's there's smoke there's fire.

More than likely, unless Sweeney needs the cap space to Bring in Hanifan or someone else. Who knows who. Sweeney usually has a deal up his sleeve that no one saw coming.

You probably receive a better trade offer this week than in the offseason. Less desperation in June, with more options via trade or FA.

I would say the opposite. More suitors who have a need. Ottawa (not that he would go there) needs a goalie but they don't need one now. In fact, it behooves them to wait and suck the rest of the season.

If Donny can send Grez for a 7th that would open things up. Lohrei has shown he is ready and having zboril / regula as a 7th is fine.

Would love to put geekie on the 3rd instead of him playing 2nd and sometimes 1st line minutes. Depth is a weapon come playoff time especially down the middle that's how you win cups.

Grez has been meh for me for years. I see nothing special to hold him and that contract . I'll take my chances on those 2.

If trading #74 and #48 are the only moves I'd consider it a good trade deadline. No way in hell I'd give Jake an extension: it's time to move on.
