NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks reports sources claim the Rangers are looking at Seattle Kraken forward Alex Wennberg to fill their third-line center position. The 29-year-old Wennberg is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and carries a $4.5 million cap hit for this season.

Brooks cited Wennberg’s playoff experience, his skating ability and his 200-foot game among the reasons behind the Rangers’ interest in him. He also noted the Boston Bruins have been linked to the Kraken center.
Wennberg is a skilled forward with smooth hands, strong puck-handling ability and quick feet. He has great vision, hockey sense and patience with the puck on his stick. A solid shooter, he should perhaps shoot more, but he is a "pass-first" type of player and a playmaking center. Is also a very hardworking player and should he not be able to transition his offensive game in the big league, he should at the very least become a very valuable role player

6’2 and doesn’t hit, another guy for the Boston big nice guy’s club. Nice!

Every trade proposal/suggestion on here should include salary cap impact.... it would eliminate 90% of the trade noise on here.
It's pretty much all noise, just click bait and a way to pass time, thinking that something was accomplished.

What about DeBrusk for a 1.5m retained Wennberg to even out the salary. Wennberg is bigger and fast and plays with pace looking to pass. Not a banger. But a good playmaking 3C you don’t have to shelter who is out scoring DeBrusk at 5 on 5. And call up Lysell.

JVR Zacha Pastrnak
Marchand Coyle Lysell
Frederic Wennberg Geekie
Heinen Boqvist Lauko/Richard/Brazeau

Maybe move Merkulov for Duhaime for the 4RW spot and send back down Richard or Brazeau. Maybe swap Coyle and Wennberg in the lineup.

Not gaga over it, but maybe a Wheeler for Peverley lite kind of deal. Just trying to play with a rumored interest in a way that makes sense.

Seattle makes the move with the intention to give DeBrusk a contract. They are really weak on wing. Or maybe it’s a three way with Seattle getting a 2nd from some team that picks up DeBrusk out of it.

Debrusk is the better player, this is a downgrade.

It’s kind of a double edged sword with giving Swayman a true number one workload.

You get to see if he can do it.

And so does his agent.

With the cap going up in the offseason is the market and return bigger or smaller for Ullmark?

Just seems like if you believe this year isn’t a real competing year that putting yourself in a position to have more teams being able to trade for Ullmark and being able to offer Swayman less has value.

I mean you would be dumb not to listen. Sounds like they got close with Ullmark to the Pens in the summer. But no need to force anything because the opportunity will still be there in the summer. Especially since Ullmark can come with an extension then.
I agree do not want to trade Ullmark anytime, unless the return is right.

Bruins team, as constructed, do not win a playoff round. Is their goaltending very good with the tandem? Yes, likely #1 tandem in the NHL. Has that paid off in any year in the playoffs? Nope, it has not proven to be a value add whatsoever.

Defensively, there's a lot of holes in what's currently structured. Does Hanifin patch a lot of that, he sure does but the Bruins don't have the assets (willing to give up) nor the space to fit him in right now. Hanifin also doesn't address the lack of nasty from the backend. The whole group, minus Charlie, is puppy poop soft. Very talented group but just not the right mix.

Offensively, this team is missing a top 6 forward. Bottom 6, I dont feel like they're built for a playoff battle, outside of T-Fred.

I get what I'm saying, as they sit 1 point up in the Atlantic division in 1st place but the recent inconsistency is starting to show cracks in this team's armor.

To the "not trade Ullmark until the offseason crowd"

Would you consider it if Swayman had an extension in place, it guaranteed a 1st + coming back, and it was proceeded to be flipped for either a top four defenseman or a top six forward. Let's say Hanifin for example (with an extension as well)

Curious if it swings anyone to the other side because I think it's the exact course they should take

How many seasons in a row does Frederic have to completely disappear in the playoffs before we stop pretending he’s “built for the playoffs” because he drops the gloves once a month?

What about old villain Lars Eller as 4C? He wins faceoffs and is signed through next year. 10 goals on the year. Marchand can make funny jokes with him they will love each other in no time!

fair

Acciari at 2 mill over there in Pittsburgh as well, he wins his faceoffs and hits as we all know. Rough start to his contract and there’s 2 years after this though
love acciari, but I'd be hesitant about adding a guy that's 31 and plays the way he does. Especially since the wheels are already starting to fall off. Duhaime is the guy to add if they want some thump on the 4th line IMO.
