Sadly what they need for the 4C spot is a consistant, physical Beecher. His speed and size are excellent he just needs to embrace being physical every game not just here and there
That is very, very true, but I do not think he is that type of player. That does not bode well for him. For all the world, he seems like another slightly less skilled Joe Colborne.

Much better skater. You are hoping he develops into a better Kuraly. Needs to head the the net with more aggression. And maybe find his Accari.

You have a lot of bad takes but your inability to evaluate Beecher is getting up there. But I know this is all a psyop anyway

Yeah, he is a better skater than Colborne, touche', but he does not seem to have much grit to me. With respect, I think your hopes are misplaced. He just isn't a gritty bottom six center. Thanks for nothing, Sweeney. ...

He isn't gritty, but he wins faceoffs, kills penalties, is blazing fast and chips in with a little offense.
Last I knew winning a game means you scored more than the other team not had more hits.

I would say fast for his size, a bit faster than average, but not blazing fast. His effort level definitely fluctuates greatly, and he only looks like a fair penalty killer. As I said, I am not impressed, and I suspect he will not improve much on his weaknesses.

Maybe, I see what you see, too.

But I also think Coyle looks a lot more gritty when he is playing with Frederic and JVR instead of Marchand and DeBrusk. Maybe Beecher just needs different running mates than Steen and Lauko to get him in a position to use his size more.

I just think we underestimate how much teammates and role effect guys that aren’t so good they are dictating what is going on around them.

That fourth line is supposed to be a grinding line, so Beecher should grind more on that line than when paired with anyone else. (TF has not done his jobs very consistently.)

I will grant you that playing with better players could put him in position to see more of the puck, grind more, and play better.

I am willing to give this kid some time, I would be surprised that he grows into better hockey player than many want to admit. I think he plays well enough now that you can afford to give him some time.

Doesn't look like Beecher has much upside offensively. Has great speed. Can he learn to use it more effectively?

But winning faceoffs and being good enough to kill penalties seems to make him a decent 4th liner.

i haven't looked at numbers in a week or so, but last i had seen, beecher was like 85th percentile in speed bursts and other skating categories. he's fast.

We're missing that 3rd heavy guy because of Milan's fall from grace so to speak and none of the guys we've used there have given us what that line looked like at the beginning of the year.

I wonder if there's a way to add a McCarron or some other tough guy to round that out before the playoffs. I think it's the missing piece and one we will need if we meet Florida or even Tampa or some other tougher team with their own heavy 4th lines.

We definitely need a decently talented tough guy. I like Fenian's suggestion of Matheiu Olivier a lot. McCarron might not be bad. He has never impressed me in the least but he is having a good year.

McCaron doesn't impress me a whole lot either, but he's on a cheap expiring contract. He'd fill the Lucic spot without having to make any other moves.

Carrick maybe? Not all that tough, more like a Greer replacement or a Hathaway but still tougher than Steen or Brown.

I see a reliable fourth line center, a rookie, who has earned his position and will continue to develop into a solid player.

I like Carrick as a Greer replacement as well and he is a better fighter too.

1. Lohrei should be a fixture on this team for the rest of the season, no question.
2. Debrusk should not be traded unless its for a clear upgrade which I can't see happening.
3. We need some toughness added to this team asap.....
