I always like tough guys who aren’t afraid to drop the gloves.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I think you should be prepared to fight if you throw a monster hit, even if it’s 100% legal. Simmonds might be cooked yet i still think he was born to be a Bruin.

Wouldn't that lead to less hitting?

Not what most people want in the NHL.

It might. I just feel that there are ways to hit without “destroying” a player. If I see a Bruin laid out, I prefer that our guys go after the hitter instead of just being like, “Oh I guess it was clean…” or, “should keep your head up!” Or even “we’ll find a time to hit him or someone else.” Hold up on a hit if you don’t want to fight.

Obviously not a cut and dry situation but that’s how I see it.

Having fights after every big hit is how you get fighting removed from the game even quicker.

Just because a guy is a good checker doesn’t mean he has to answer to some goober after every big hit he makes.

If the hit is within the rules, the response should be within the rules

When's the last time you saw a Bruins player laid out with a "destroying" big hit?

See it's not like he has was cooked last year, he's been cooked for at least 3 years now

I like the center group a lot

Two kids on bottom lines that should be good players for a long long time

Coyle been Bergeron like

Zacha getting better

I’m not using the money on a center and I been all over Hertl and Elias Lindholm

A stud winger and retain DeBrusk where I’m shopping

Marchand by PK Subban

I don’t know. Maybe I’m being too broad with “destroy” and “laid out”. I just mean a huge hit I guess.

Yeah I’m sure that’s true.

This is supposed to be a trade board so I’ll stop.

I am still intrigued by Schiefele.

I also wonder how much Calgary would retain on Huberdeau. He’s been terrible I know. It’s not like he forgot how to play. That may be my worst idea ever, though.

It's a problem on the PP. Every PP starts with a FO loss, hard rim and clear. 20 seconds wasted. My wife said today they should just have Marchand stand over at the far blue line to wait for the rim, lol.
Well, this statement was totally false. I looked at faceoff stats this morning, breakdowns by zone and strength (ES, PP, SH) and the Bruins are killing it at the dot.

Zacha has won 40/62 on the PP, and Coyle 17/23.
Coyle is at 54.5% overall and has taken almost twice as many DZ faceoffs as anybody else.
The only place we’re close to even is on the PK where the PP team has more players to win a loose puck.

Never trust the ‘eye test.‘

Eye test can he helpful when the play is important. A team can win most defensive zone draws, for example, but not win them when there is a minute left, extra attacker, and they are defending a one goal lead. On the PK, you notice it more when it leads to bad things happening. I guess this could be some confirmation bias, but not all plays are created equal.

how do they get gryz back? i assume it's minor moves but the cap is not my friend.
i know @DominicT is the master but anyone else know?

So you think Mac should have to fight for every big hit he throws?

Not that he should have to, but if he’s challenged by a teammate of the guy he hit he shouldn’t be surprised. Hold up on the hit if you don’t want to fight. You can still separate the guy from the puck, which is ostensibly the goal.

Huberdeau’s contract is too long. No chance Calgary would agree to retain enough.

Brock Nelson has Bruin written all over him. 6’4” center, plays a heavy game with a great scoring touch. 6m cap hit for 2 more seasons. Would cost a haul.
