Mitchell and Regula.

It was a cap dump. For a great player who accepted third line duty without complaint, and wanted to come to the Boston Bruins.

Nothing like having to trade away a player for nothing because the GM spent years worth of draft picks and 4.5m in future cap on a team that was a first round exit.

Pretty poor roster management.

I'm a fan of Milan. What he did cannot be excused. I would like him back with the Bruins, but I doubt that will happen.

The case is going to trial, which, counterintuitively, I believe is a good thing. For himself, his wife, his children, and his family. Better not to sweep it under the rug, which is usually the case in sports.

I don't believe Neely or Sweeney are bad actors in this sense, but a public trial is not a good look for the Boston Bruins.

Hence, I suspect they will cut ties with Milan.

The whole thing is very sad, all the way around.
I suspect that you are right. However, who knows what the outcome is if he has made progress both in his personal journey but also with regards to his wife and family. We just don’t know.

If it goes to trial I would agree 100% with your take.

If, on the other hand, they approach the court date and the family jointly appears to say that they don’t want it to move forward and Milan offers a heartfelt mea culpe and outlines the reasons for his behavior, what he’s done to address same, and what he will continue to do moving forward?

Again, I’m not taking a position. Either way.

My point was only that the B’s have some decisions to make and I expect this is at least part of that calculation.

Of course it may also be true that the Bruins have already determined they are moving on and it’s a total non starter.

I give Sweeney credit, however. I don't like the teams he has constructed, because to me, they lack what a true contender needs in the playoffs.

But it's also true that Sweeney has done a fine job bringing in college/undrafted players, and making some pretty good deals. Lindholm for example.

Signing Morgan Geekie, bargain bin shopping this past off season, and signing a very useful Danton Heinen have also been, indisputably, canny moves.

The Bruins have been successful in the regular season and for that I give them credit.

I give Sweeney credit.

But, the regular season is not everything.

Ya he’s very good at identifying puck possession monsters, but he struggles to identify other forms of talent.

His teams have had the exact same issues for almost a full decade now and he’s refused to adapt.

Can they bring back Beecher?

Or is his punishment over? I bet he'll have a pep in his step if he came back.

They would need to waive one of the 4th liners to create the cap space needed to bring him up

Well with Poitras going on LTIR (didn't know when I posted), now they will have enough space to call Beecher, or one of the other guys (Lysel/Merkulov) up

They could use his speed and forechecking.
I am not shitting on what you are saying about Middleton, but I am not trading DeBrusk to get him.........
No offense taken, I like the back and forth and discussion. I would say there is probably a better chance DeBrusk gets extended than traded by the trade deadline.

Ideally, the Bruins keep DeBrusk and add a top 6F and top 4D. The problem is going to be the cost to acquire those two players and how much are the Bruins willing to sacrifice the future for a run this season?

The Bruins have tried a few players with Zacha and Pastrnak and none have really gelled too well with those two. One player I would like to see get a chance in the top 6 is Frederic. Whether it be to the left of Zacha or right of Coyle, Frederic and DeBrusk should get looks there before any moves for a center or winger are made.

Poitras has shown flashes, but he is probably better off developing this season in the bottom 6. If the Bruins want to make a deep run this postseason, I see Heinen, Poitras, and JVR platooning for two bottom 6 roster spots.

The Bruins need at least one top 9 forward or bottom 6 forward that can bring some physicality to the lineup. I think Henrique is an interesting name, but a lot of teams that missed out on Lindholm and Monahan will be interested so the cost may be out of the Bruins' reach.

Then there's the defense. Right now the Bruins need a LD. I see Lohrei in the Poitras camp. He isn't ready yet, but the Bruins may be able to get away with him being on the bottom-pairing right now if they obtain a top 4 LD. Lindholm is carrying the left-side, and it doesn't help that Grzelcyk and Forbort are struggling.

I don't understand the sentiment that Hanifin could be had in FA, so make no attempt to acquire him now; it completely ignores the need a LD now. Signing him as a FA does nothing to help this season. If there's a less than 50% chance he gets to FA, but what I suspect is a pretty excellent chance you could lock him up if you trade for him now, then he should be explored as a trade target.

It's that simple.

Well it is also a recognition of the cost of acquiring Hanifin, which like means Gryz going for salary), plus a 25 #1, and a good prospect. Possibly more as you also will need Calgary to retain.

Most everyone loved the deals and praised them while here but once they left it was typical jilted Bruins fans underplaying what they brought and what they said back then

Will the big bad red wings or penguins be bullying them? Toronto? Only Tampa or Florida would be cause for concern physically imo
The Bruins would get bullied by local peewee teams.

How about Mcavoy stepping up in that department himself? His gloves seems to be a permanent part of his hands.
Yeah, you want your number one Dman who regularly throws bone crunching hits to be dropping the gloves and sitting in the box for 5 minutes at a time. Meanwhile I’ve not seen Charlie shy about scrums or laying the lumber hard.

i don’t want to be that guy but, seriously, posts like this are just……. well, lets just say they are complete and utter drivel. That’s as polite as i can be.

It’s thinking and excuses like this as to why they are so soft. Chara used to drop the gloves to set the tone when he needed to.

Bruins had first line guys like Lucic and Horton playing heavy games, wearing teams down and fighting when necessary.

Then they had other guys like thorton, Campbell, mcquaid Ference who would drop the gloves and/or provided snarl in bottom like/pairing roles.

That team would have never allowed tkachuk to bully them and get to Ullmark on multiple occasions during last years playoff series.

Not saying it should be McAvoy, but in the past there were a handful of leaders on this team that played big minutes who were putting their bodies on the line constantly.

The bruins have none of that outside of Frederic. Sure they brought Lucic in, but Lucic and Frederic weren’t going to change the teams demeanor anyways. Lucic would just be an extra person to deal with cheap shots a few shifts later.

Sad news on Poitras. I think he will come back bigger and stronger ready to take another spot next camp. Got some great experience under his belt this year.

I know he’s not the big rugged forward we would like to add to the line up, but I wouldn’t mind giving Lysell a chance.

Damn. Rough news for Poitras. Hope he heals up and comes back stronger. 5 months seems like a pretty lengthy recovery

I had shoulder surgery on Dec. 4, 2020 along with my PT, I came up with the goal of being able to golf by Memorial Day, a little under 6 months.

1 was 50 and only did P.T. a couple of times per week, but I met the goal…barely.

Granted Poitras is 30 years younger and has much more time and a better situation to rehab….but it’s not am absurd timeline.

Based on my experience he should be ready well before camp.

Shoulders a rough. Long and painful process. Feel for the kid.
Had surgery for a torn bicep tendon.. 2 months in a sling..Not allowed to do anything...lift nothing. Don't turn the key to start the car.

Doing everything left-handed was a real bummer..
After 2 months arm looked like a chicken wing...took a long time since in my job I frequently hold a 20 lb hammer drill over my head while drilling concrete

Check your dates for Sweeney.

I have no problem with Charlie Jacobs. He's the one who brought in Peter.
