I know some here don't like him, but idc the Bruins would be fools not to re-sign Heinen. I was a fan of him in his first stint here but he's just a completely different player right now. Looks faster, stronger, more decisive. It's like he actually developed into the guy I thought he could be after his 40+ point rookie season.

Also that 43-18-88 line has been playing like a legitimate first line for over a month now, and it really doesn't feel like fools gold when I'm watching it either. Heinen just looks like such a perfect complementary player for Pasta and Zacha. They still don't have a ton of minutes together yet so small sample size, but they are scoring incredibly efficiently while also giving up nothing the other way.

Danton is a keeper and still at a solid age 28. Sign.

All comes down to cost but I’d rather have him then lose him. At under 3 mil I will be ecstatic. Over 3 mil I might need some time.

If the price is right I'm 110% on board. He'll rarely wow you but he's consistently a good player on any line. Plugging him in on any top-9 line and spreading the depth around is a huge luxury.

Crazy that he made it to a PTO, but has been awesome for us. He'll surely have more eyes this summer but hopefully he likes it here and wants to stay. At his age, he's someone I'm definitely open to giving a 3-4 year deal to.

I keep waiting for this line to stop begin so good, and instead it just keeps climbing up this list lol. List is all offensive lines in the entire leagues with a least 100 minutes together.

I'm a big fan of finding money in an old coat pocket I haven't worn in a long time and Heinen feels just like that - found money. I'm right there with you in wanting to see him come back next year.

To pump the brakes a bit though, the question becomes " is this sustainable " ? I think since he was put on the top line, he's around a PPG. He's also shown in the past he can produce when playing with top tier talent. But for one reason or another, he's never there for long and eventually gets moved around the lineup, which being able to slide into a line and play steady hockey is his calling card.

Can Heinen be a 20-25 goal / 50 point guy playing on the top line? He's never hit those totals before but watching him produce with Zacha and Pasta feels like it's not out of the realm of possibility.

He was a 16/31/47 guy as a rookie.

My OCD is in overdrive as we head into the final few games of the year

Pasta - 47 goals
Marchand - 28 goals
DeBrusk - 18 goals
Zacha - 19 goals
Frederic - 18 goals

On top of that, there's Pasta and Zacha with a chance to hit career highs in points for a season.

Heinen has 16 goals and 34 points in 69 games so far, and up until about a month ago he was mostly bouncing around the bottom 6 all season. He keeps playing like he has been and 20+ goals, 50+ points feels very realistic over a full season with Pasta and Zacha. But I think playoffs is the big test to see how sustainable it really is. That line has been great for the past month, including in some game against some really good teams. They're scoring against teams like the leafs, Panthers, Canes, Preds, Lightning, etc. These aren't just empty points against bad teams. Can they keep it going in the playoffs? Remains to be seen, but if yes then that line might just be legit and worth keeping together going into next season.

Would be interesting to see what heinens numbers would be if he had Debrusks deployments all season and didn’t start as a PTO. He’d likely be pushing 50 points.

Same probably goes for Frederic too

Probably not tbh, the 63-13-74 line gets crazy hard defensive deployment. It basically takes all the minutes that the Bergeron line used to take against other teams top lines, and I don't think Heinen and Freddy can handle that kind of deployment consistently. Like 63-13-43 has played like 75 min together and they got kinda smoked at 5v5 and then broken up.

There's a good thing about Heinen though, is that he can compliment whatever line he's on.

If he's signed, it better not be for what one would expect a top six scorer to net. I don't think he's permanently what you want in that spot.

But as a utility guy who can play anywhere? He's valuable. Curious to see what people feel that value is from a contract standpoint.

For me? $1.75M - $2.5M AAV for two years. Don't go longer. Don't go higher. But compared to where I was before the season (no thanks to Mr. Heinen) I think I've come a long way.

I don’t know why that low an AAV with longer term is a bad idea. Plenty of examples around the league of that. If I were Heinen no way I’d sign for 2x$1.75M. That would be malpractice on his part.

Didn't he just settle for league minimum and a PTO?

If another team wants to break the bank on him, be my guest. I don't like long-term deals on roster spackle though. Consistently bite you in the ass.

To me that implies it's a long term deal for ~3+ million. (Chris Kelly, Sean Kuraly, Barclay Goodrow contracts)

I'm comfortable with your numbers for 4 years. His game will likely age well.

most he's ever made is 2.75, given he was PTO it's not malpractice to sign for 1.75 after a single, albeit strong, season
