If Ullmark really wants to stay, I would approach him about taking less on a future contract so the team can resign Swayman and afford to keep Ullmark as the backup. But Swayman would need to be convinced to take one more bridge contract to help burn off the last of Ullmark's old deal.
I will be shocked if Ullmark takes a discount. If he does, you can be damn sure he will get a full NMC this time. I almost feel like it's just time, after this season, for these Bruins to split up. It sure would be a dream come true if he took the hometown discount and stayed for 4 or 5 more years alongside Swayman. But in all likelihood they will each have their own net and it will be good for all.

Since the All Star break, I feel more comfortable watching Ullmark in net than Swayman. Swayman has an edge to his game, but I think he over does it at times. It's great seeing him channel his inner Tim Thomas, but I think he needs to cool it down a bit when it comes to getting involved with opposing players whether it's a shove during the play or after the play etc. There's a time and place for those kind of things, Toronto game for example, and he needs to focus more on making that clutch save that can swing momentum in the Bruins' favor.

In terms of the playoffs and onwards, I hope they stick with platooning Ullmark and Swayman. I think whoever plays better should play a part in determining who the Bruins keep.

Dom Tiano was a huge supporter of DiPietro. He struggled there for a while, but he is showing a lot of perseverance and competitiveness with this opportunity in the Bruins organization. I really hope he gets another crack at the NHL at some point.
Same here, could be a find by the Bruins, gave up Studnicka who never panned out here anyway.

What do we think Elias Lindholm's AAV comes in at after the season he's having? I think the days of him being able to realistically ask for like 8+ mil are over unless teams are really just gonna ignore this season and pay him for past performances. I think the bruins are likely gonna go after him pretty hard this summer and personally I don't love the idea of paying him like 8-8.5mil, but if he comes in at 7-7.5mil I take that all day.

So assuming you manage to land a Lindholm in free agency, what do you do with the lines then? Do you move Zacha back to wing or have him on the third line?

Would you want Lindholm on Pasta or Marchand's line, or put all three together at a top line? Who does Coyle play with?

There are a lot of variables (Debrusk likely walks), does Heinen stay? But I'd probably keep Coyle with Marchand and either Heinen or Freddy on RW, and then go Zacha-Lindholm-Pasta. Also depends on whether Lysell comes up, if Poitras recovers from surgery, etc.

IMO you keep Debrusk and run a top 9 of:
Zacha-Lindholm-Pasta
Marchand-Coyle-Debrusk
Frederic-Poitras-Geekie

Why should he take less, he wants to make money like anyone and he should.......

i am not sure about lindholm at 8 million, that scares me. I wont pretend to have watched him a ton over the years but I do watch a ton of hockey so its difficult to pinpoint. of course he is all hype on HF (until his recent downtrend post trade). any deal with him comes with a huge yellow caution flag. I am not sold he is the answer at 8 million long term? We need to think of some backup plans.

I am right with you; I am not sold either.......

It's not that he should take less, it's that he needs to take less if he wants to stay with the Bruins long term. Both guys are deserving of #1 money but that's money that can be allocated somewhere else, especially on a team that spends to the cap.

What do you call less ?

Maybe we consider Chandler Stephenson guy has wheels, same age as Lindholm and making 3.25 million, probably gonna see a steep payraise that Vegas may have to juggle with. Alex Wenneberg and Jack Roslovic and Domi are other options. Probably come in cheaper than Lindholm.

Stephenson's underlying defensive metrics generally grade out very poorly. It hasn't been an issue for the Knights cause they can play him with Stone when he's healthy and protect him that way, but I'm not sure Stephenson is a guy you can play with Pasta.

Honestly I think he’d pair really well with Debrusk, but we obviously don’t know what’s gonna happen with that situation
