I'd do Swayman for 1st+Mercer/Holtz+Casey

I dunno. Mercer producing less than DeBrusk this year and is probably a wing more than a center. Holtz is a one trick pony. Casey is undersized and would be stuck behind McAvoy and Carlo. It's a weak draft. Maybe Eiserman falls that far but probably not. Maybe you grab Iginla's kid. I wouldn't deal Swayman for a collection of parts like that.

28yr Old UFA C Jonathan Drouin hopefully becomes a Bruin in the summer

Anyone else agree?
Oh my God Jonathan Drouin??

Pass.

If we have another offseason of blowing all their cap space on bottom of the roster shit, I'll join the torch and pitchfork crew. No place. No chance. No thanks.

Yup, go big or go home.

Go after a couple impact players. If you can't get the impact players then don't chase the B/C guys. Go for some short term deals that allow you to keep cap flexibility moving forward. Worst thing you can do is add 5-10 million in contracts you are paying someone to take within 2 years

I'd rather be 10 million under the cap next year, and deal with the idiocy that would lead to, then blow huge money on guys like Drouin. Same would be true about spending 5-6 million annually long term for Zadarov.

Big Z with two goals against MTL
I want this dude so bad next year
I went to Calgary board before traded to see what posters say and not flattering

Vibe was meathead with brain lock

God would be ripped here and wanted to shoot to moon so probably not a good idea to come to EnTitled Town especially with fighting eliminated next CBA

Kuntar is a guy to watch making Bruins in a year or two - intersecting toughness and skill intriguing

Boqvist should be a fixture on 4th line and top 4 PK

Beecher as well

The bottom 6 going forward looks all set

Team can probably be top 3 in East going forward without spending close to cap

Jacobs will appreciate & can offset some of business loses to covid

Bruins could be like Arizona or Detroit and start being a team that is in middle of trades to get picks

Avoid bad contracts but be facilitating 25% of deals for third or fourth round picks

He’s gotta love Dollar Store Donny

If he ends up in the remnants market and Donny misses out on his top options, and Drouin becomes available for a One year deal in the 2-3 million dollar range, sure, he might be an option.

But giving him term would be incredibly stupid. After 5 disastrous years, he is having a decent year playing with McKinnon and Rantanen , but he is a very poor risk , and the type of guy who kills you if given term

Paying a 3rd line pairing that much money is insane. This team has an issue with paying 3rd pairings too much John moore, forbort, reilly, peeke while there are bigger/more important roles to fill.

In an ideal world you get a cheap veteran and pair them with a prospect like lohrei and use that cap on an actual top line center.

Almost all of the people towards the top of the FA market end up being overpays to varying degrees. When you sign a free agent like that you want to make sure it addresses a need. Zadorov does, Drouin doesn’t. They’re not the same to me. Ideal world we’d sign him for like 4 mill, he’s probably gonna get more than that though seeing what Gudbranson got

95% of the time I care more about the logic of the contract a guy gets more than I do about the player himself, and Zadorov, who I like a lot fits the 95%.

With that being said, aside from the fact that he’s guilty of the crime of being tough, I can’t see why some people continue to says he’s a bottom pair guy?

While goals/points aren’t everything, his career high in goals is almost 3x what Grzelcyk’s is, and he often plays on first or 2nd pair here.

I’m not even a Grzelcyk basher. Hes been good for long stretches of time here and probably gets more crap than he deserves, but if he’s passable as a top 4 guy, then how is Zadorov not?

As much as some of us are accused of having a bias for tough guys, it seems there are just as many with a bias against them.

At the right price (most importantly) I’d love to see Zadorov paired with McAvoy.

Not much if anything in my opinion. Not only are you getting a top 10 pick you are also freeing up 5 mil in cap space.
Not really. Either Swayman or Ullmark will be gone next year and the other signed longer term.

Ullmark might be slightly cheaper, but saying you save 5 mil is just not accurate in any sense.

To add Zad you have to trade Lindholm or Carlo...personnaly i land Lindholm to the moon

I'm not sure which post I disagree with more so I'll just leave this for both.....
