Greensboro. Monarchs. Instant rivalry with the Checkers.

Make it happen Dundo.
As a native Greensborian, that's what I'm hoping for, though I'd rather go back to the Generals name. Plenty of history for either one, but Greensboro is literally named for a guy who did a very nice job shooting the soldiers working for a monarch.

Other ideas I'd like to see would be to move the Gladiators up to the AHL. Atlanta is trying to get back to the NHL, there's a big fanbase there that supports the Gladiators well and wants more. Current Gladiators ownership might have a ever so minor problem with that, though.

Asheville would be fun, but I would worry it's too small. Great demographic profile for hockey, though, and the corporate partnerships with all the breweries could be fabulous.

Virginia - it's a big state with no real cities, only suburban sprawl, but Charlottesville and Norfolk could be good options. Norfolk has the ECHL team to contend with as does Atlanta. Charlottesville doesn't have a rink at all right now, so that would need to be built, so not a drop in and go situation. But again, demographics are right. Rich educated white people who watch lacrosse and hockey already. A surprising number of people there make regular trips to DC for Caps games. If they had time to get a rink built, which they probably don't, that would be cool.

Kansas City is another major league market with only an ECHL team. That or Houston is as far west as I'd go.

Please remember I said as a rumor(no facts behind) People can say all they
want about whatever until you prove it....Facts always need to be documented
which our newspaper articles like this one
A compromise should have been worked out period
That is the owner's responsibility!!!!!
Money does talk if the Carolina Hurricanes claim they really
care about the State and their fans they would have moved
gone the extra mile!!!!
They have not stepped up to the plate
Any team does have a price I have yet them to be truly
serious and yes Caring....

Money does talk however I am not convinced the owner of the hurricanes
was not extremely guilty of wanting to be extremely greedy
I do understand kahn wanted a break on money...The hurricanes got in this
mess because of ownership...and yes there will be problems
unless they decide to change
North Carolina fans charlotte fans our the ones playing the real
penalty it is a very very sad in the state of affairs in North
Carolina and Charlotte fans
Remember This Charlotte fans have supported the Hurricanes
in the Past....and yet people so easily forget...so yes
Carolina does owe the Checkers fans a deep aplology
Think about That!!!!!
I really doubt anybody has that level of compassion!!!!

I mean, for those of us who live in the Charlotte area, losing the Checkers-Canes affiliation really hurt. However, I certainly didn’t “suffer” over it. I just haven’t been to a Checkers’ game since before Covid.

The year the Checkers/ baby Canes won the Calder Cup was one of the best hockey-related years I can remember , 2006 aside. Going to all those playoff games at the renovated Bojos Coliseum the same year the Canes also made it back to the big league playoffs was awesome.

I don’t care to watch another NHL team’s prospects. Sucks, but it is what it is. I’ve somehow learned to manage.

Some of you may remember I went on a big rant when the split happened. Checkers win the Calder and then the shit happens. Yeah 2019 was awesome as a Hockey fan here.

Ultimately I want the best for our prospects. In an ideal world they should back in Charlotte, but like Stan from American Dad said, we don't live in Should-land

Visited Richmond a few weeks ago, and I was surprised how much more city-like it was than the last time I visited many years ago. Better restaurants, cooler neighborhoods, and the VMFA is an incredible museum.

I'd still vote for Greensboro or Charlotte, but Richmond could maybe be a good hockey town.

Agreed re RVA -- it just needs a new arena now that the Coliseum is nada.

And the VMFA is indeed fantastic.

Richmond (technically Henrico) is in the process of building a 17,000 seat arena north of the city, but it is not expected to be completed until 2026. Could be a great spot for a Canes AHL affiliate though.

FUS not on tonight’s roster. Should we assume that the sands in his hourglass have run out (and back to Europe)?
They are running 11/7 tonight, which might mean the choice is between giving FUS a couple games or dressing Chatfield and DeAngelo to start the season.

Might even be letting Rod decide if he likes managing the team with 11/7 vs the traditional 12/6.

I like the kid but we have plenty of other options that make sense. It’s fun to think about it but Rees, Suzuki and at some point Pono all make more sense. The kid isn’t staying for the full season and these other players have done the work and earned a fourth line spot. Suzuki has played really well I think.
I mean....two words.....Elias Lindholm.....we send him back for one more season in Sweden and we might have reaped the benefit that Calgary eventually does.

Did Suzuki come back last night after his injury?

If Suzuki and Pono are still hurt, I’m ok with giving FUS a couple of games and then using Rees while Svechnikov gets up to game speed.
