Entertaining game! Women's hockey is not something that I'll follow too closely, but I'll tune in for some of their games throughout the season. I hope it works out and the PWHL becomes successful and they get more women interested in watching them when that's such an untapped market.

I ask this genuinely, and by no means is it machoistic or anti-feminist. But is there an expectation by the women -- those playing, associated with the league and fans in general -- that men are to watch this in conjunction with the NHL? Or will they accept that a lot won't tune in because it is a significantly inferior product?

Because I hope they are gearing towards fostering the next generation of women's players along with capturing young fans (and hopefully along the way the dads with daughters) as that will primarily dictate the long-term success of the league.

America is so saturated with pro sports/leagues. WNBA plays opposite the NBA season. Where could this league possibly fit? I have no idea.

I personally have no time for it.

There cannot be an expectation men will watch but if the females do their part, along with some girl dads... this league can be huge. Just scratching the surface.

Well the WNBA is completely subsidized by the NBA, from what I've heard, so.

EIther my YouTube stream has a media delay, or the national anthem singer was lip-syncing without the sync.

Puck dropped, Game #3 on, Minnesota @ Boston. Go USA!

End of one period in Game #3, Minnesota 2 - Boston 0. Offensive flow held by Minny for most of the period, but Boston picked up their pace to challenge Nicole Hensley several times late in the period. Minnesota killed off a minor penalty late in the period, allowing zero SOGs during the 2 minutes.

There's no delusion that this won't bring in lower viewership than the NHL. The venues they chose to play in and their capacity also speaks to this.
Those that want to watch and follow will find the time and do so. Others will when they can. And most just won't.

But definitely, the goal is to grow a fan base and capture young new fans to grow the sport, longterm

End of the 2nd, Minnesota leads 3-1. Boston took their transition & offensive games to another level in that period, while Aerin Frankel seemed more comfortable in BOS goal. Minny hasn't looked nearly as organized at either end of the ice, and they seem to be wearing down; I'm wondering if their late head coaching change is contributing to those aspects of their performance. Overall, this game has been less physical than Games #1 & #2.
