Maillet was consitently good in the AHL and KHL. Same thing with Andersson in the AHL.

They both have a higher AHL career PPG than Richard/Belzile.

Scoring is not a problem as they are in the top 3 for GF.

Norlinder and Mailloux are sinking the team defensively. Norlinder was good at camp, but this is easily is worst year since being drafted. He needs a new start.
Norlinder should be traded and given a fresh start elsewehere. I'd take a late pick or very minor asset. Beaudin is better and deserves more minutes.

Beaudin seems a little more polished and has played all his career in North America. He was an alternative captain with Drummondville, as well as the team's leading point getter in the 2017-18 season (better than any forward!). Unfortunately his game has not translated to the pro game (yet), neither has Norlinder's. Their time to succeed in the NHL is nearing the end.

Agreed, but of the two, Beaudin is way better AHL depth and less cringeworthy as emergency callup.

I’m surprised there’s another huge break in their schedule. I guess that’s good for injured players. They really need to turn things around very quickly. I have a feeling this season is already lost though, but hey, they could grab that last playoff spot.

That's basically how the AHL is. I looked more into the schedule after thinking the first five day break was ridiculous. A lot of the league play 80-90% of their games on Friday-Sunday with Wednesday as the only weekday games. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are super rare.

It seems to be if the flood gates open, they can pot them with ease, but needing goals at key points they can't do.

Yeah, Mailloux and Norlinder aren't the best, but at least Mailloux had a future, the rest of the d are barely better in the games I caught.

Forwards aren't the best defensively.

Maillet has been fairly useless, which is odd considering how well he did in the KHL the past two years.

The KHL is the fourth or fifth best league at this point. Clearly behind the AHL and SHL, arguably behind NLA. The domestically players are ahead of Switzerland and probably even Sweden, but the imports all choose the former two European leagues. Only exiled players go to the KHL anymore. Most European leagues have imports as the best player on nearly every single team so this makes a huge difference in the quality of competition.

But he was good in the AHL before that.

We all have our opinions, but I believe the KHL is at worst, the third best league. It may have slipped, but still superior (top end talent) to the AHL and NLA.

Laval sent Parker Jones, Voyer and Yaremko down to TR. This must mean some injured players are coming back.

There are barely any imports in Sweden relative to the KHL, NLA and DEL and most of them make little money (still a good living but not comparable to the KHL and NLA). I think KHL is 4th though. Their nationals obliterate most of the Swiss players in NLA (when you get down to Kloten and Ajoie it's pretty rough and there is players that would barely make the VHL in there).

Logan Mailloux seems to be out of position several times a game, often costing his team a goal against. Hope he spends a few years in the AHL to hone his skills and improve his defensive weaknesses. When he does make the NHL, Logan should be paired with a defensive stay at home defenseman, unless he is converted to the wing!

To think the KHL was once better than the AHL.
To be honest I'm surprised by how good the AHL has become. I don't really follow European leagues so I'm trusting the judgment of many here, but there was a time where the AHL was seen as below the SHL, Liiga and of course KHL, maybe a mere 10 years ago. I wonder how this can be explained.

One thing we need to do as an org is sort out our goaltending. If you look at failed/long rebuilds (Buffalo) or rebuilds that ‘succeeded’ but never won anything (Toronto, Edmonton) one thing they have in common was subpar goaltending. Not saying we need a Price level goalie but we need a Demko/Ullmark/Oettinger type.

Which brings me to Laval. Admittedly I haven’t watched much but the box scores indicate we have been plagued by below average goaltending. Dobeš has been extremely shaky/lackluster. Strauss Mann likewise. I am not suggesting laval’s record would be significantly better because we also have to sort out the defensive miscues but goaltending by far looked very weak.

That said, between Volokhin, Fowler, Miller i am hopeful one of them becomes what we need. Volokhin and Fowler especially look promising.

Can we send Primeau down to help Laval?? WTF

If a team claims him just give them a 7th round pick to unclaim him, Laval is awful
