Not sure if this is in jest, but based on limited viewings and the coaching staff raving about him... I could see it. Avs could use a defensively responsible sniper in the bottom 6 if they go deep. Have Newhook sit for a few

Uhhhhhhhhh I hope they find a way to convince Rydahl to stay, I kinda like him. Big dude who knows how to punch faces and win faceoffs, not to mention score the occasional goal, is surely more useful than 10 MacDermids.

They might have something in Malinski tbh.

I doubt they give him the 3rd RD slot right away but he's probably injury call up #1 next year... then again if they trade one of the LD in the summer, maybe they do give Malinski the 3RD to keep at least one good puck mover for each pairing. If they trade Girard for example they could run:


Toews - Makar
Byram - Manson
xxxx - Malinski


Just grab a veteran, steady partner for him on that Left Side.

Nah, need someone better then him. He's a solid #6/7 but they really need a #4/5 sort for that spot. Especially given Byrams injury history. Need a guy that can step into the Top 4 for injuries and not be a liability.

Getting a 4/5 this summer is going to be tough, especially considering what little "extra" cap we have will surely be invested in the 2C position, unless CMac can make a trade for a center on an ELC.

Getting a 4/5 this summer is going to be tough, especially considering what little "extra" cap we have will surely be invested in the 2C position, unless CMac can make a trade for a center on an ELC.

Maybe, but maybe not. They could always target one in a Girard trade for example. There's a few in free agency worth taking a look at as well.


For example just a couple of names that would work IMO... Sean Walker out of LA, Brian Dumolin or Radko Gudas in Free agency. All of those guys should be in that ~$2-2.5M range. We'll have to see what the cap situation is first but I think if the Avs dont bring back EJ and wanted to go with Malinsky as the 3RD, spending ~$2M on a solid 3rd pairing LD to pair with him would be a really smart move, and good injury insurance for Byram/Toews in the Top 4.
