Ostapchuk is exactly the kind of player Ottawa needs, big, strong, goes directly to the net & is hard to move out once he is there. Kleven is exactly what Ott needs as well, mobile, hits, blocks shots & has a big shot from the point, he also is big enough & strong enough to move guys out from in front of the net & make their lives miserable. Both should be promoted soon & both should help Ott be better.

The guys you mentioned plus maybe Oliver Johansson is a skilled 20 yr old Swede who plays C/LW, not sure when he comes over. Theo Walberg LD is a 6'4" 20 yr old who plays with Halliday, not sure if he leaves school & Filip Nordberg LD is another 6'4" 19 yr old Swede, also not sure if he comes over.

Johansson is averaging under 10 minutes with Timra and has one goal in his last 16 games. Doesn't seem likely he is signed at this time.

Both need time. Especially Ostapchuk, I see him as more on a Nick Paul type of schedule. I'd prefer top see him work on his game get big minutes every night and become an accomplished AHL player before being thrown up here for 7 minutes a night of junk time.

Roster Notes:

Forward Cole Reinhardt returned to the lineup in Utica on Saturday night, picking up an assist in his first game back from a 10-game injury layoff. There have been no other transactions for Belleville since their last game. Full lineup details, including tonight’s alignment, will be available ahead of puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Sens Goaltender Mads Sogaard is entering some record-breaking territory. His victory in Utica on Saturday night was the 44th of his American Hockey League career, putting him just one win back of Filip Gustavsson for most all-time by a Belleville Sens goaltender. “The Great Dane” has earned wins in seven of his last eight appearances and holds one of the top goals against averages in the league (2.45).

Focus will likely be on the crease for the Bears as well, with the goaltending tandem of rookie Clay Stephenson and Hunter Shepard holding two of the top three goals against averages in the AHL. Stephenson leads the league at 1.93, while Shepard ranks third at 2.09. Forward Alex Limoges has been the most consistent offensive threat of late for Hershey, picking up a point in seven straight games.

At the rink:

It’s Family Day and Belly’s Birthday Bash at CAA Arena! The first 1,500 fans will receive a free Belly bobblehead doll, courtesy of CAA, and the Sens will be wearing limited edition Belly-themed alternate uniforms which will be auctioned starting at 1 pm today. Proceeds from jersey sales will go towards Belleville Senators community programming. Belly will be joined by some of his local mascot friends, plus Ottawa Senators mascot Spartacat will be on hand to celebrate as well! Fans are encouraged to arrive early to take part in the pre-game Kids Zone once the doors open at 1:00 p.m.

Roster Notes:

There were no transactions for the Senators since Monday’s game against Hershey, with Coach Dave Bell and his staff just continuing to make game-by-game decisions on which veteran players will have to sit out due to the AHL’s development rule. Full lineup details, including tonight’s alignment, will be available ahead of puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Belleville forward Zack Ostapchuk has scored in back-to-back games and has also tallied in three of his last four times out, as he finds some consistency in his rookie AHL campaign. He’s found the net 12 times this season, with four game-winning goals and the Senators are 8-2-0-0 when the 20-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta native scores. Meanwhile, Angus Crookshank (five games), Matt Highmore (four games) and Max Guenette (three games) all extended their respective point streaks in Monday’s loss to Hershey.

Rochester defender Jeremy Davies is on a three-game point streak coming into tonight’s game, including goals in back-to-back contests. He had a goal and five shots on goal in Toronto on Monday afternoon. Lukas Rousek has points in back-to-back games, along with a pair of assists in two games against Belleville this season. Jiri Kulich scored twice against the Sens back at CAA Arena in December.

At least Sogaard seems to have figured out the AHL. He’s still very young for a goalie, don’t give up on him

We have given up on a lot of young promising goalies that became solid elsewhere(even if for stints) with experience:

Lehner
Dreidger
Daccord(expansion)

We would be very, very foolish to move on from Sogaard or Meri in the next 3-4 years.

Roster Notes:

Another transaction-free day means the only lineup changes will be the swap out of players under the AHL’s development rule, should Coach Dave Bell decide to make any changes. Full lineup details, including tonight’s alignment, will be available ahead of puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Angus Crookshank continues to be the hottest Senator of late, extending his point streak to six games (four goals, five assists) by scoring the game-winner on Wednesday. Crookshank has also found the scoresheet 12 times over his last 14 games, putting up nine goals and eight assists over that span. Meanwhile, defender Max Guenette has picked up an assist in each of his last four games, while rookie forward Zack Ostapchuk is on the first three-game point streak (two goals, one assist) of his AHL career. Matt Highmore has points in back-to-back games and would have been on a four-game point streak, but had an assist removed from the game last week at home to Toronto, following a scoring change.

Speedy Amerks’ forward Mason Jobst has points in back-to-back games, scoring against Toronto on Monday and then again against Belleville on Wednesday. Fellow speedster Linus Weissbach has been the most productive Americans’ player against Belleville this season, notching three points (one goal, two assists) in three games against the Sens so far on the campaign.
