Ban fighting in hockey. It's time.

It's so archaic. It played a role once in old time hockey but not anymore. Honestly, it makes hockey look bush league. No other pro sport allows this.

Check out this AHL tilt Vincent Arsenault (6'2 216) vs Matt Rempe (6'8 240)

Yup if you think about it, it’s really dumb to stop the hockey game to let two guys stand in the middle of the ice and punch each other’s faces.
If you don’t think about it (maybe you’ve had a concussion from a fight) then it’s wonderful entertainment.

Roster Notes:

The Senators will be without forward Roby Jarventie, who was added to the injured list after being hurt Friday against Manitoba. Philippe Daoust is also still out indefinitely with injury as well. Plus, Belleville will also be missing forward Boko Imama, who was suspended three games along with Marlies forward Kyle Clifford, after the pair were involved in a skirmish at the end of the second period on Friday night. Goaltender Mads Sogaard was also recalled to the NHL by Ottawa on Friday, while goaltender Leevi Merilainen was reassigned to Belleville from the Sens ECHL affiliate in Allen, Texas. Full lineup information, including today’s alignment, will be available before the puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Egor Sokolov continues to be one of Belleville’s top producers against Toronto, registering six points (one goal, five assists) over six games of the season series so far. Matthew Highmore has five points (two goals, three assists) against Toronto this season. On the back-end defenceman Lassi Thomson will play in his 169th career AHL game tonight, tying him with Jordan Murray for most games played by a defenceman in Belleville’s franchise history. Thomson is also just one point back of Murray for tops on the club’s all-time defensive scoring list.

The Marlies offence was paced on Friday by Ryan Tverberg, who had four goals, one assist and seven shots on goal in the game. He has a total of six points (four goals, two assists) against the Sens in four games of the season series. Goaltender Dennis Hildeby made 20 saves to blank the Senators and earn his third shutout of the season, in his return from an NHL recall to Toronto.

At the rink:

It’s Sunday Fun Day at CAA Arena, with plenty of pregame activities for kids and families including colouring and poster-making, a balloon animal artist, a temporary tattoo station and more. Plus, following the game, fans will have a chance to meet some of their favourite Belleville Sens players during a team signing session. A sell-out crowd is expected, so fans should arrive early to make sure they don’t miss any of the pregame fun, or on-ice action. CAA Arena gates will open at 1:00 p.m.

Probably has to grind David Bell's gears that a guy who is getting basically nothing out of a talented Marlies roster seems to be the leading candidate for the coaching gig in Ottawa. Not that Bell himself really deserves to be a candidate, but nonetheless...

Still small sample size but can someone give a comprehensive report on Boucher's play since joining Belleville?

He is pacing ok and looks to be imposing himself physically, both noteworthy considering the adjustment period that we all expected. On top of that the team has been playing their best hockey since he joined. Not correlating but it counts for something.

I watched one game and he was largely invisible.

Anyone?

Saw him in person in the game yesterday. He wasn't noticeable except for a few plays. He looked like a guy who needed to get some reps to get his timing back. If he's going to become a tough guy he needs to become a better fighter. Has a wicked shot. Had a chance going down the wing that seemed harmless but he put a hard, precise shot right in the only clear opening and the goalie had to make an unexpectedly difficult save.

Most important thing is he needs to play hockey for a year. His talent level is like a mid-2nd rounder but he's missed so much time.

Pretty raw 4th line winger that is still trying to find his way. He has some tools to work with. Still early considering time lost . We will need to see more from him as he goes along. He is a replaceable player in the Belleville lineup right now. I'd give him another 10 games and decide if he should stay there or go down a level to the ECHL for a spell.

Sokolov again leads the team in scoring, what is that now 3 yrs he is their top pt producer or 2nd? Guennette is a right shot D who is 2nd on the team in pts should be given another look in Ottawa before this yr is done. Ostapchuk is now the #1 centre in Belleville in his 1st yr in the AHL. Thompson has fallen off the map. Nice to see Kleven & Guennete as a pair, hopefully we will see both playing together in Ott soon.

Prospects I would like to see in Ott: Kleven, Guennette, Ostapchuk, Sokolov & Sogaard
Players I would like to see out of Ott: Tarasenko, Kubalik, Joseph, Chartier, MacEwan, Kelly, Brannstrom, Hamonic, Chabot & Forsberg
