With how much the players and the coaches have been touting Hertl's leadership and play lately, I wish there was a way to slap the C on his jersey without offending Couture. Clearly the heart and soul of the team.
Who cares if they offend Couture. He didn't deserve it when he got it and he still doesn't deserve it now.

It seems to me that Ferraro is the anti Tomas Tatar, according to the publicly available advanced analytics he is terrible but for whatever reason the 32 NHL teams adore him. Tatar seems the opposite, the analytics models love him but he can barely find any teams interested in signing him.
He's basically Kris Russell except he actually plays and isn't eternally injured.

Gotta say that this Bailey signing feels a lot like when we acquired Stefan Noesen or Mikey Essyimont: Good stuff.
Grier’s pro scouting has been exceptional so far. Sturm, Lorentz, Benning, Eyssimont, MacDonald, Zetterlund, Okhotiuk, Blackwood, Givani Smith, Bailey…nobody thought anything of these players when we acquired them but all have been valuable contributors to varying extents. Small sample size but Emberson also looks extremely promising.

It gives me confidence he will be able to assemble a legitimately deep team when the time comes, something the previous regime consistently failed to do.

Random stats:

- Eklund and Zetterlund are the same height, but Zetterlund is 39 lbs heavier than him
- Zetterlund is the heaviest player under 6'0" by a decent amount (6 lbs heavier than Dmitry Orlov and 11 lbs heavier than the closest forward Noel Accairi)

Crazy he is still decently fast and skilled while obviously being quite strong. Pretty unique player.

Very interesting. And yes, a unique player.

I think there is some good potential there for a solid bottom-6 winger on a contending team.

I ran into Dan Rusanowsky here in Vegas today and congratulated him on getting into the Hall of Fame! He’s such a special human!

As soon as commentators and journalists started talking up his blocked shot numbers that's the name that came straight into my head.

The day Ferraro gets traded will be the day that I'll be 100% behind Grier. I like most of his moves so far, but that would solidify it.

Would Sharks fans say your team has a core moving forward yet? Wondering if the closest to that would be guys like Eklund/ young guys like Addison, Smith, Bordeleau and Zetterlund, or if it's open season even for vets like Blackwood, Hertl, etc.

To the extent there's a core -- as in, players we think will still be on the team in 3-5 years -- the list is short. Eklund, Zetterlund. Hertl for some folks (I'm one of them, unless the trade is incredibly favorable). Otherwise, the current D or prospects that are solid or at least promising are still role players... Addison, Thrun, Okhotiuk, even Mukh are probably not untouchable.

No, the only core player they have is Eklund...and hopefully Smith as a 2C with top PP time if he develops properly. The rest of their core will be obtained at the top of the 2024-2026 drafts I think and will hopefully be complemented by several of Musty, Mukh, Bystedt, and the guy they draft with the Pens 1st rounder (and that group doesn't include depth guys like Bordeleau, Zetterlund, Thrun, Cagnoni, Haltunnen, etc)
