Things slowly happening?
Sounds like Grier lowered his asking price
Things slowly happening?
The 2022 draft trade down is looking horrible now as well, but I think all the blame for that goes to the nepotism baby's terrible prospect evaluations for the draft rather than Grier.
I disagree, it obviously far too early to make any declarative assessments of the draft but it seems like Bystedt and Lund both have the tools to become successful NHLers. Havelid has disappointed me but he has been injured quite often. Fisher seems like a bust but we always suck at drafting in the 3rd round. Of the later picks I like Furlong the best but you shouldn't expect anyone drafted past the first round to make the NHL.The 2022 draft trade down is looking horrible now as well, but I think all the blame for that goes to the nepotism baby's terrible prospect evaluations for the draft rather than Grier.
Lol what are you even talking about? In what way does that look "horrible now"?The 2022 draft trade down is looking horrible now as well, but I think all the blame for that goes to the nepotism baby's terrible prospect evaluations for the draft rather than Grier.
Bystedt, Lund, and Havelid all stink.Lol what are you even talking about? In what way does that look "horrible now"?
I want to keep Kunin now. It's true, check out this poem Mike Grier dedicated to Kunin:
In the rink's hushed embrace,
where echoes dwell,
A melody unfurls, a tale to tell.
Through icy winds and puck's swift flight,
A voice emerges, pure and bright.
In teal and white, where dreams take flight,
A songbird soars, igniting the night.
Luke Kunin, thy voice, a symphony bold,
In San Jose's heart, forever enfold.
With every note, a goal is scored,
In Sharks' domain, you are adored.
From blade to string, from ice to air,
Your anthem rises, beyond compare.
Oh, Kunin, sing! Let your chorus resound,
In every corner, let your praise be found.
For in your song, the Sharks unite,
In victory's glow, we take our flight.
Mike Grier's pen, in homage, inscribes,
A paean to you, where passion thrives.
In San Jose's realm, forevermore,
Luke Kunin's song, the Sharks adore.
So does Conor Geekie. What's your point?Bystedt, Lund, and Havelid all stink.
I’m wondering if the Sharks are now looking at Ryan Johansen.
Grier mentioned the financial flexibility that getting rid of Hertl's term gives us in terms of being more active in free agency or random one-off trades... Of course he mentioned Jumbo, which is just a historic outlier trade, but depending on our lottery luck it does sound like they might try to pull the plane out of the nose dive earlier than expected.
I also hope we don't look at Ryan Johansen.
one way I cope with shocking things in life or just plain ol obstacles is to accept the things that happen and proceed with the new information I have.
I’m sure I’m much older than you and I have never been able to find a way to do this, congrats! I’m still trying to figure out why things that make no sense to me are so acceptable to others…
It's going to be fascinating to see how Grier uses all of our cap space in the offseason. This roster for example has over $31 million available to fill 3-4 roster spots (Couture is on IR still counting against the cap too):

I'm with you on the forwards but I just don't see the point of signing Pesce to a long term contract right after getting rid of Hertl's. Not to mention he (and any other UFA with options) would likely have no interest in signing with the Sharks.I think they should just go for it and run this:
Eklund - Granlund - Zetterlund
Musty - Smith - Guschin
Zadina - Bystedt - Kunin
Kostin - Sturm - Givanni Smith
Muhk - Pesce
Ferraro - DeMelo
Thrun - Benning
If Smith isn’t ready, just get Stamkos…

Stamkos is definitely not signing in SJ. He will have his option of contending teams if he doesn't stay in Tampa.
