Cool. My point was that Frank Seravalli thinks Grier is the worst GM in the league while riding Brian McLellan's dick because he paid almost 200 grand to turn a 7th round pick into a 5th.
If MG does not add a higher asset in value than a 3rd rounder (i'll even give him till the draft) he's the worst GM in the league. You can be the worst GM not by making terrible moves, but simply by not knowing what you're doing.

Fat Seravalli thinks this is a "monster job" but Grier is the worst GM in the league for turning Meier, Karlsson and Burns into two 1sts, a 2nd, a 3rd, Mukhamadullin, Zetterlund, Okhotiuk, Makiniemi, Lorentz, Granlund, Rutta, and Hoffman.

Mukhamadullin alone is more valuable than any of the players/prospects Calgary received and the Penguins 1st is obviously going to be much higher than Canucks or Knights.

Two firsts for those 5 players is actually terrible. Combine with the fact that Bruz is the best prospect they got, Greir got better return from 3 players (albeit 3 better ones)

My worry is Grier falls in love with the guys he brings in and won't part with any unless the deal is absurdly lopsided.
It's true, check out this poem Mike Grier dedicated to Kunin:

In the rink's hushed embrace,
where echoes dwell,
A melody unfurls, a tale to tell.
Through icy winds and puck's swift flight,
A voice emerges, pure and bright.
In teal and white, where dreams take flight,
A songbird soars, igniting the night.
Luke Kunin, thy voice, a symphony bold,
In San Jose's heart, forever enfold.
With every note, a goal is scored,
In Sharks' domain, you are adored.
From blade to string, from ice to air,
Your anthem rises, beyond compare.
Oh, Kunin, sing! Let your chorus resound,
In every corner, let your praise be found.
For in your song, the Sharks unite,
In victory's glow, we take our flight.
Mike Grier's pen, in homage, inscribes,
A paean to you, where passion thrives.
In San Jose's realm, forevermore,
Luke Kunin's song, the Sharks adore.

Sharks traded two players almost more impactful than those 5 combined. Compare those returns and you're congratulating the wrong GM. CC has gotten a hell of a lot more than Grier.

That’s beautiful.

I’m starting to now think MG may add at the deadline.

Still counting on a playoff run…

Honestly, I’m guessing most teams are like “kk I’ll get back to you later today when I see how my #1 option goes..”

I think the moves will start happening later today or early tomorrow.

But also, this was a tank year. If we had better players to give we wouldn’t be so terrible. What has Chicago done so far?

I think most bigger moves will come this summer, namely, I suspect they’ll move Hertl.

You’re seeing a lot of spare parts already being moved. My guess is Grier’s inexperience is hurting the team’s chances of making moves. The lack of rumors or sitting out players for precaution or anything tells me he wasn’t all that interested in moving the players he brought aboard in the first place. But, ultimately if they’re not weaponizing their remaining retention spot then it’s a real head-scratcher of a deadline for me.

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet. Other than the Burns trade, I think Grier’s done pretty well in trades. It’s possible that nobody wants any of our guys — which is what the rumors have kinda been saying — but I think it’s just as likely as we’ll see a Duclair, Kahkonen, possibly Kunin trade in the next while.

I’m 100% confident the only trade we’ll see is Nico Sturm for a washed prospect.

The 2022 draft trade down is looking horrible now as well, but I think all the blame for that goes to the nepotism baby's terrible prospect evaluations for the draft rather than Grier.
