Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Robertson to Buffalo for a deal involving 4th OA. Dallas deals 4th OA, Bichsel, 2027 1st, and some filler to SJ for 2 OA.
Would you still be comfortable trading back to #4 when there is a lot of smoke out there that Chase Reid could be the pick at #3. Current betting lines pretty much have Malhotra and Reid as a coinflip to go at #3.

2OA, Graf, 2028 2nd for Robertson and Lyubushkin (cap dump). Nobody is beating that offer.

Dallas can turn around and flip 2OA for Knies to replace Robo, or trade down for all the Blues 1sts and send some of them to Detroit for Larkin.

I'll even go one step further:

If there was EVER a player worth a four 1st round pick offer sheet from the Sharks from an organizational/business standpoint, it's Jason Robertson. Asian-American superstar on the Sharks with Celebrini likely creates a seismic shift in terms of Sharks popularity in the Bay, TV rights as I mentioned before, merch, what the Sharks can get away in ticket pricing, and increasing overall value of the franchise.

I'd argue even a Cup might not have as big of an impact as a bona fide Asian-American superstar, especially when paired with Celebrini. It would be like Steph+ KD, but rather Steph + Kevneet Durant.

They would never do it, but I can still argue it lol.

2OA, 9OA, Muhk and Musty for Harley and Robo…

I haven’t seen a single thing about the Sharks being interested in him though and they’ve been mentioned in most other trades, so… I don’t think we’re in on him.
Except the vast majority of those rumors throw the Sharks name out there for no reason. Basically everyone is equally in the dark, I didn't see any rumors about the Kraken being in on him until they were rejected. Who knows? I do like both Harley and Robo though...

A big reason just drafting Stenberg or Reid would be preferable is they would be cost controlled. The big reason Harley and Robo would be preferable is they are finished products. Don't know if it's worth rushing, but they are both player I would love to add.

Honestly, I’d see if Robo agrees to go to SJ and offer the 9OA+. He’s from California, maybe he’ll Heatley his way in. Then go Reid at 2 - you get your Eklund replacement and your RD of the future.

I wouldn't offer more than 9. If he wants to sign/play here, let one of the other teams he will agree to sign with outbid us. You have the leverage. Take reid at 2 and call it a day

I view him as a luxury so set a price and say if he wants to come here we can talk. If they ask for more, wait it out and see if Dallas panics

I like Robertson a lot, but man, is that kind of massive cap hit ($15MM+ into his mid-30s) a good idea in terms of the roster construction/cap usage for this team when it's getting into its peak contention window in a few years?

The amount of money being spent on forwards in a few years could be genuinely detrimental toward building a properly-built Cup contending team (and Robo will be 30). I don't know. I'm probably more concerned with that than the cost of acquisition.

Yeah, I love how the Dallas ask is rumored to be close to the Rantanen return. It’s like guys, you have an RFA you don’t want to pay who is being explicitly picky, you ain’t gettin’ the Rantanen haul.

To 4? Absolutely
That trade also would give the Sharks all the ammo they'd need to move up from 9

Because he doesn't want to play for dogshit teams going nowhere like the Kraken and Blues?
Only mediocre teams are going to offer anything for him, unless he agrees to a serious pay cut.

Well, that and you'd hope that Stenberg is more valuable than Robertson. While Robertson was a lot better this season and he isn't as bad as Nylander, he isn't really a winning player.

What does this even mean? He's been on a Stars team with no depth and questionable goaltending

Also Nylander was the only guy on that TOR core that actually did anything in the playoffs at the right moments

Robo is a player who will be inconsistent physically and defensively, he's been pretty slow up until this season too, he's not enough of a driver to take over a playoff series so his scoring will always be below his contract and his impact will always be below his scoring.

Nylander was the worst of the core 4 if you watched the games, only guy who played lazy in the playoffs but since he showed up in highlights some people liked him.
