Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

If true… yes… Blackhawk fans are going to hate the sharks for a awhile now…

I mean, it makes sense. Byram is like a 95th percentile outcome for any of these defensemen and he helps them now, not 5 years from now, which matters when they need to convince Bedard to commit.

Emotional fans are underrating Byram and drastically overrating this crop of defensemen. When two smurf wingers are universally considered BPA over any of them it's clear none of them have legit #1D upside because that would just be so much more valuable.

If they spend all the premium assets on a prime-aged winger, how do they get defense?
They're not getting defensemen with those assets anyway so might as well massively upgrade from Stenberg to Robertson.

9OA will be used on a defenseman one way or another.

I think the issue is they have been spending all their draft capital on defensemen.

Kevin, Arty, etc…. To once again use it on one, it’s a bitter pill. And sure is Bytam might be an outcome for a few of these guys…. But it’s likely 1 pops and is better.

That will suck for Blackhawk fans.

Korchinski and Levshunov are sunk costs. Ultimately it makes a lot more sense for them to spend 4OA on Byram than on a kid who might be Byram in 5+ years but could easily turn out to be Nemec or Mintyukov.

This has ALWAYS been the price for D-men... even flawed ones and why I still want to draft Reid at 2

Go put your money on Reid while the iron is hot

That Byram trade is BRUTAL and not something I would have done if I was Chicago. Maybe Byram will blossom with more ice time and responsibility. Not that it’s news, but got damn are RD expensive. Maybe the new infinite money hack, just spam draft all the RD, then trade for whatever you need later.

There goes my trade back idea with Chicago for Crevier and a 2nd 😆 ima laugh my ass off when Crevier ends up on Power’s pair and they crush it next year.
