Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I feel like Knies is more Grier's flavor than Robertson. Plus, he already has cost certainty rather than costing $12M to be a 1 trick pony on the wing (that we don't really need). That said, feels odd that we'd move our best assets for wingers given how major the need is on the backend.
I wouldn't mind that either but Grier is all about BPA and Robertson is objectively the best player available on any market this offseason

We're not getting a #1 defenseman in exchange for 2OA so instead of drafting Stenberg get the fully developed bigger version of him to speed up the timeline

Cap space is basically worthless now so paying JRob $15M/yr or whatever is not a big deal

Good luck paying Robo 15 mil while also paying Mack 17 mil, Smith 10 mil and Misa 10 mil

Robo is asking for at least 13 or 14m... AAV

He turned down 8/12m AAV from stars so i'd rather pass if you have to send a premium pick back. Werenski is a #1D if he's available, rather wait and see on that situation than jump too soon for Robertson.

Marchment in interesting in UFA

It is meaningful when we're going to have to significantly overpay for D-Men in UFA to fix our backend.

Or, if you believe your point on draft picks not being worth anything to improve the D, investing in D-Men in the top of the draft becomes even more important because that will be the only way to acquire anything of substance to fix that group.

And that 13/14M in SJ is not even getting you to the $12M from Dallas factoring in state tax differences.

Werenski also has a full NMC with only 2 years left on his contract

You'd have to be absolutely certain he's going to extend whereas Robertson can be locked down right now

Read the entire Chicago thread on their trade, fascinating

It's a bizarre mix of sky is falling realizations of their inept management, smartest-guy-in-the-room copium that they just got their #1D of the future and Byram is actually a stud, and. . . a WEIRD amount of Sharks shit-talk

Not beating the obsessed allegations anytime soon, I see

I don't want to stoop to the level of Vancouver fans who keep insisting both will come home, but im saving that one for the next time the chumps come out of the safety of their section and brigade hate post Celebrini again lol
the power of friendships > home nostalgia :)
We can trade William Ek.... aw crap.
those were some crazy takes in hindsight now lol

Yeah Robo is costing us 15M+ easy but it still might be worth it

If you ignore the lottery win it's like trading Eklund, Halttunen and Svoboda for Robertson which is insanely lopsided in our favor

We'd still be able to draft a defenseman 9OA in our original slot

Only question is what we'd need to add to 2OA because I don't think that's enough

They would want 2, 9 and someone like Pohlkamp. I love Robo, but if it's anything like that I'm not down.

Yeah it's a combination of Celebrini emerging as the real generational player, how mad they were when we drafted Misa, us winning the lottery and knocking them back AND almost making the playoffs while they sit in limbo

It's hilarious and so salty and entertaining to read.

The 3 dudes from that section who had the draft live podcast who absolutely lost it when we picked Misa screaming that Davidson should have traded up for our pick by offering their "assets" is still peak comedy

I mean at least wait for them to draft Stenberg. Rumors are still Grier could move the pick… it’s not a sure bet yet.

That's too rich but if we could do it for 2+27+Musty or something it's worth considering at the very least

Dallas' options are limited because they can only trade him to a team he's willing to sign with

Haven’t you heard that Bo Byram is the next Duncan Keith???
