Speculation: 2023-24-25-26 Sharks Roster Discussion

Having sat with the Byram trade overnight, I have found at least some sense of it. I didn’t realize when it was announced, but the total package of 4+45+Crevier was pretty much what I had gotten comfortable with as an appealing package for the Sharks to trade back. I can see the sense, if one thinks Byram is a 1D in-waiting, that Byram helps CHI more than Stenberg would. That or Grier wants more than that to move back. Or KD doesn’t value Byram quite that highly and he is the moron everyone thinks he is.

I think ultimately it’ll depend on whether Byram is the #1-2 that he thinks he is. He hasn’t had the chance to really show it, now he will, if he’s mid, it’s a really steep price.

Grier claims he was not in on Nemec, but was on Byram, but felt they got a deal with Chicago. Said he didn't know about it.

Saw the previous confirmation from Sheng on Byram, but heartened on the Nemec deal.

This is one of my hotter takes but the one player i would overpay a little for in Carolina is Will Carrier. That man is a 4th line menace that has haunted my hockey brain for half a decade.

He's simply a slightly better Klingberg who is just a placeholder 1RD/PP1.

I suspect there will be more. My theory is he’s going to try and add another top 6 winger and is still big game fishing for defense.

Reilly - Kesselring
Dickinson - Desharnais

You’d have to imagine he’s trying to get that top RD slot (a Hronek, though sounds like that’s unlikely).

Yeah, I’d dig Trouba but agreed. I could see Nikishin too, but he’s not ready for 1D duties by any means.
