I honestly believe Rielly will be fine, I believe change of scenery is something he needed. I believe it's a Walman 2.0 for us but likely stays longer to keep up the cap floor.
I still believe MG is far from done.

Agreed, I think he’s still a top 4D, of which we currently have two-ish. Ideally Dickinson takes a big leap and Reilly becomes a #5 PP2 guy.

I think Byram was the primary option. Not a ton of options to run PP1 left out there for next year which is why a low-cost Rielly makes sense with Byram off the board.

Possibly. Unless there is somebody on the board that isn’t public. I know it’s more rare to get those out of left field trades but it does happen

This. Plus Toronto doesn’t have their own first round draft picks for the next two? years so they can’t really go into rebuild mode. Would probably want an NHL player back.

at these kind of prices, i'd rather talk to rangers directly in move down about 2OA for cuylle, schneider + 5OA. Knies get more hype from playing with Matthews but these young PFs guys and Doan are in similar tier imo. not sure what rangers plan to do but Cuylle's RFA soon and they should rebuild perhaps starting with a Malholtra.

9OA + 27OA + top 10 protected 2027 1st + Musty? Helps soften the blow of them not having those two future 1sts

Seems like an overpay by the Rangers but maybe they really want Stenberg for some reason

Getting Knies is an interesting move, especially if you somehow keep the 2nd. 9OA++ for Knies, then go Reid with 2, you have two power forwards on your top 2 lines and your RD of the future.
