Frost's problem this year is the same as Allison,s was last year . f***in Tort's is trying to change his game and crapping all over him to do so . Instead of letting him play his game and then try to tweek it a bit he shits on them and belittles them so their confidence is shot .

Someone like Cates he loves how he plays so he publicly praises him , puts him in every possible position to succeed and plays the shit out of him . His confidence is sky high .

People have no F ing clue how confidence affects ones preformance . This great coach we have loves being able to dominate players and intimidate them . He figured he will scare the shit out of them and that will make them play better . There is a reason Nepolian I mean Tort's is so hated league wise but some on hear will never get that .
What is he trying to change, other than to push Frost to play with more intensity and use his speed?

Frost already made the changes Torts wanted last season, and was given the same TOI as Cates, 2a and 2b, and responded well. All Torts asked last year is that he back check and be defensively responsible, which he asks of any forward, St Louis, Panarin, Atkinson, etc.

The problem with Frost has always been his tendency to disappear for long stretches of games, when he becomes too passive and waits for an opportunity to present itself instead of driving action.

I am big Frost fan, but he is in no way a big player. He's average and there are also a few guys in his size range too. Let's face it, you need some big players in the roster, and beside 4th line goons. There are Couts, Cates, Laughton, Gauthier, Foerster, Tippett, Allison, Laczynski who are 6'1 and up and provide some size. Kaplan is also pretty sure to get a chance, based on size + skating.

You need a balance of speed, size, skill, playmaking, scoring and grit to win. When people consider prospects like Rizzo, you have to consider who he's competing with and all the other prospects he'll have to leap over to crack the roster.

Tuomaala is a good example. With TK, Foerster, Tippett, Hathaway and Allison, it's going to be hard to crack that lineup at RW (ask Wade), esp with Brink and Atkinson sure to be playing somewhere at 5'8" and Michkov coming in a couple years to claim the 1RW spot.

I will use my usual proviso and say that I hope Massimo Rizzo takes the NHL by storm and wins the Calder, Art Ross, Rocket Richard, Masterton and Conn Smythe trophies on the way to leading the Flyers to the Stanley Cup in his rookie year. Let's see if he signs, though.
Yeah I didn't read all that but you are right Frost is average size for an NHL forward, calling him small is silly.

And yet Torts benched him for six games after only two games this season, just so he could keep the "PHD" line together. Outrageously bad coaching for a guy who is allegedly overseeing a rebuild.

As for defensive responsibility, Frost has been on the ice for exactly one ES goal against all season.

Owen McLaughlin (Phoenixville kid - which is where I live) is continuing to put points up. There’s a UND vs BU game on ESPN+, where he has a goal and an assist. He looked good. I don’t think he has elite offensive tools, but he plays smart and had plus hands.

Denver Barkey had a good game last night against Owen Sound. 1 goal, 3 assists. Up to 26 points in 17 games. The more I watch him, the more I like him, but the more I worry about Laperriere sinking his claws into him and turning him into a checker.
That's not just lappys mission but the entire org's. Good honest hockey is played down low and along the boards. Can't win hockey by filling the net

I've watched bits and pieces of a couple of his games, I would be super excited if it wasn't for the fact that I assume he won't sign here.

You have to think he sees there is no room for him.
I feel you. I have no idea why Carolina would have traded him other than if he said he was planning on testing the market or if he specifically told them he wouldn’t sign with them. There could be an issue with their (lack of) AHL affiliate.

I like to keep an eye on him because he’s a fun prospect to watch. He clearly has a unique skill set, and I can see some team giving him a chance.

Oh yeah, I also like watching him just because he is a fun player. Has moments where he's embarrasses some poor freshman or looks like a man playing a bunch of 14 year olds.
