Rumor: 2023-2024 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Offseason Edition

All about his motivation. I love RyJo when he is on his game and he's perfect if he's playing to his capability. Large if. I (unsurprisingly) love this deal.

Yeah I really like this move a lot. Still have all our prime assets to either add to the roster as well.
 
So the Avs have made two trades so far this summer and have essentially traded future considerations for both of them...


I am now sensing a pattern. The next trade will be Connor Garland for future considerations.

Yeah, I think the key for me though is that they actually trade those assets and do something else. It'll be very disappointing if in 2 weeks from now, we still have Newhook, G, 2024 1st, and whatever prospect we drafted with the 2023 1st.

They just got a middle 6 Center for free and at a very affordable cap hit to do something else. You better not be done. Go get Laughton for the 3C slot. Or at least freaking do something.


But as long as they stay aggressive and make another move or two, I think this was a great move.

100%. I'd be curious if they add a top 6 winger as well. I feel like Nuke would be the perfect compliment to Mikko and Ryjo so they go find another guy who can ride shotgun next to Mack. Wonder if Boeser could end up here? Would be another deal in the same vein as RyJo.

Two things now... I expect a deal for a very good 4C coming (probably as a UFA), but more than that, Avs are going to spend some assets at RD. Either a trade for a guy like Peeke or a UFA with some cash and term.
 
Pgnotta says on NHL radio that the Avs have been looking for awhile for 2C and were in contact with Philly a few weeks ago about Hayes and then backed off of that

I heard they were in on Kuznetsov too. What it came down to is the cost. They wanted a cheaper 2C who has played the role and to not get locked into anybody.

I would've preferred Kuzy but the price with retention for him would've been far higher. Keeping the prime assets for the rest of the roster is nice.

I think a Winger is what they'll do next. Its not what I would do, but its what I think they will do. I was half joking earlier but I would not be surprised at all to see them go after Garland for super cheap.

I also think they're one of those contending teams that are in on Toews if he decides to go another year as the 3C.

Garland would also make sense. Not sure about how likely retention would be, but you'd have to think he'd be a pretty solid fit in our top 6.
