We've heard they would have drafted him if they won the lottery that year, and they've demonstrated they're not worried about injury prone players.

With all these relatively young players going on UFA, I'll take my chances with finding a 3rd liner with 1-2m than paying full price for Engvall, who doens't have the grit that we're looking for anyways.

Pretty crazy that the Devils didn’t qualify McLeod. He was one of the Devils better forwards in the playoffs. He’s strictly a bottom six guy (no middle six upside here IMO) but fast and defensively conscious guys who have shown value in the playoffs are valuable.

I’d pay him much more than $1 million. There’s zero chance he settles for anything like that on the open market when guys like Kampf and Girgensons are greeting $2.4-2.5. That’s the more realistic number you are looking at.

Wow this free agency is going to play right into our hand. So many good depth players to be had at low value. I got full trust in the pro scouts and Cmac. Can't wait to see Cmac cook tomorrow.

Keep in mind a lot of these better unqualified guys may simply be back to their teams on longer term deals.

I’m not sure the full free agent market is going to include some of the names we are eyeing. For example, sounds like McLeod may very well be signing a new deal in Jersey.
