Only because they were forced to use it last year, and again this year with Landy. They have been hesitant to downright stubborn to use it in the past. Just seems odd they would suddenly change their stance to add a guy, and then immediately put him on LTIR after openly criticizing other teams that do it.

Not necessarily apples to apples.

Apparently Nylander's extension ask is way too high for the Leafs but Shanahan also apparently refuses to allow any of the core 4 to be traded
Nylander has a 10 team no-trade so it's pretty movable even with it kicking in.

Janmark deal is solid for the Oilers. Maybe a sign of some of those other bottom 6 guys getting squeezed for cheaper as well
Yup, this is probably one of the worst off-seasons to be a depth FA.

Cap only rising by $1 mil removes a decent chunk of teams up against the cap. Philly and Nashville blowing up their roster. Chicago, Arizona + Anaheim staying at the cap floor. Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Calgary are wildcards.

I may be wrong, but the Avs have a strong possibility of getting some really good value signings. I think we'll miss out on the ideal depth (high effort, physical bottom 6ers) as I expect they'll get overpaid by some teams trying to rebuild their culture, but should still be plenty of options.

Very surprised that Perry signed with the Hawks there, I thought he would be still be chasing after the Cup considering his age and what role he's turned into.

Considering all the players who Avs went after so far, Patches would look fantastic on our LTIR list. Fit nicely next to Byram, Landeskog, Makar, Manson, Johansen, Wood (if Avs get him), and anybody else I am forgetting to mention.
Hathaway would be another guy that brings a heavy physical game. I think he's pretty decent at other aspects as well though like forechecking.

I think he's going to be one of the guys that ends up getting paid too much tomorrow, but on a $1-1.5M deal I wouldn't mind him for the bottom 6.
I think Hathaway takes too many penalties for Bednar's liking IMHO. Wood is the one I would go after for the bottom 6. His injury is a concern for me and I think a lot of his play last season was from the after-effects of said injury, but he should have some left to prove and get back to his best days.

Wheeler still has a lot that I think he wants to prove to the NHL, but he comes across as too preachy for me as a captain and player. He is far from being a cancer, but not surprised he got the "C" ripped from him. I am not sure if

She got herself a trophy wife.

Best of both worlds for Perry. He gets paid way more than he’s worth and then will get moved at the TDL to a contender.

Go get Duchene. Talk him into a one year deal at Lando money on a show me contract and chasing the cup.

Duchene can cash in when the cap goes up.

We can't afford to give him Lando money though. As it stands, we would have 15.5 mil in cap space with Landy on the IR. Re-sign Byram and Colton, and then fill out the rest of the bottom-6 and sign a depth defensman. Not much left after that.

If we want to get a big money guy on the top-6, Girard needs to go.

Someone should tell JT2C to pull a Klingberg and sign a 1 year prove it deal back with us. Only for it to backfire horribly forcing him to resign with us on a cheap 8 year deal next offseason.
