Dermott interests me more than Bear. Bear is a low-IQ player that has great work effort and that's it. Dermott at least some puck-moving talent in there...

Bear just had major shoulder surgery.
Thus the reason they didn't qualify him. Apparently there's mutual interest in re-signing him with Canucks, but they will probably negotiate after he's done healing. Of course, someone else could grab him.

This, BTW, is exactly the reason why players in general don't go to World Championship games when their contract is up. Get yourself injured, lose out on a contract.

I'd take Wood, Patches (if cheap), poolparty, Dermott or Reilly.
I would be seriously surprised if he plays in the NHL next season. Recovering from a hip surgery (let alone a double surgery) takes months. If I'm him, I take my time to heal, sign in Europe, get to the World Championships to showcase myself and maybe try again in 2024-2025 (if any interest remains at that point).

Have there been any rumours about Rodrigues? I've not seen anything about him definitely leaving like Compher and EJ.

What about Tarasenko ? Always found him a special player.

And what about Fast ?
Tarasenko is a guy I would absolutely love, but I don't think he's interested in signing up for a short, inexpensive deal.

Fast is re-signing with Carolina, reported by insiders today.

Hello bargin bin

The Avs haven't signed a multi-year UFA since all the way back in 2019 with Bellemare ($1.8x2) and Donskoi ($3.9x4)... so not shocked.

That was also the last time they signed more than (2) UFA's in the same off-season (Nichushkin). It's definitely not their bread and butter, and I'm expecting another trade to occur...

This all shapes up (cap issue, no one but bottom dwellers with room) to be perfect for our team to stock up for a year, take a shot at the cup, then retool when the Landy issue is resolved. Our core is more likely to entice some of these guys than others for a shot at the prize. I will remain optimistic to see how this unfolds. Get your popcorn ready.

I just saw Baugh said he thinks he Rodrigues has priced himself out of Colorado. Just a rumor as of now.
Priced out until he sees what the prices are going to be. Reality may hit hard for some of the FA group, except for centers, which are in short supply. JT or Dutchy going to Chicago on a multiyear deal for 6mil per.

1 year deal guys will be of the lower tier in free agency. Not that the Avs can afford more, but if that is the route they go, it'll be scraps or guys coming off major injuries. I expect Comtois is going to be an Avs by the end of tomorrow. I also expect Bednar to want to murder him by the end of November.

Wanted a real top 6 winger, looks like we won't get it.
