Also, a guy that would miss the first 2-3 months of the season. With Landy already on LTIR, and a team that doesn't want to use it, it just seems like such a bizarre fit. If you can get him for under $1M, maybe take a chance, but I would still dislike it. I'd much rather take a chance on Pat Kane, or Duchene, or Tarasenko, or even ROR.
What do you mean a team that "doesn't want to use it"??? They used it last year, they're certainly going to use all of it this year.
They just haven't went full on manipulation mode yet.
If he's not going to be back for 2-3 months(Which seems completely made up btw), then it's basically a free signing as well as he starts the year on LTIR anyway. By the time he comes back in December or whatever, there's there's damn good chance someone else has been hurt that could be tossed on LTIR or if ge signs for cheap enough a small roster move fits him.
I'm not advocating to sign him for like $2-3M or anything. I dont think he gets that anyways. But a $1M deal with games played bonuses built in is super low risk and for us in particular as we won't be banking any cap space this year as it is.
