Also, a guy that would miss the first 2-3 months of the season. With Landy already on LTIR, and a team that doesn't want to use it, it just seems like such a bizarre fit. If you can get him for under $1M, maybe take a chance, but I would still dislike it. I'd much rather take a chance on Pat Kane, or Duchene, or Tarasenko, or even ROR.

What do you mean a team that "doesn't want to use it"??? They used it last year, they're certainly going to use all of it this year.

They just haven't went full on manipulation mode yet.

If he's not going to be back for 2-3 months(Which seems completely made up btw), then it's basically a free signing as well as he starts the year on LTIR anyway. By the time he comes back in December or whatever, there's there's damn good chance someone else has been hurt that could be tossed on LTIR or if ge signs for cheap enough a small roster move fits him.

I'm not advocating to sign him for like $2-3M or anything. I dont think he gets that anyways. But a $1M deal with games played bonuses built in is super low risk and for us in particular as we won't be banking any cap space this year as it is.

Nah, don’t be. I wasn’t crushed at all. I know he’s not a nice guy.

He’s my favourite athlete ever because of the level of compete and desire to be the best he displayed his entire career. He took big moments by the balls. An unphased rookie winning the Stanley Cup. 11 overtime wins for the second cup win, nerves of absolute steel. The sheer confidence and yes, absolute arrogance, elevated him to another level.

I don’t look up to him as a role model. My godfather is a priest, I have enough pure examples around me.

I love Patrick Roy for everything he represented; being a winner.

That's great if you can separate his actions like that. I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, but his mind is probably like one of those people who are thinking way ahead, rather than focusing on the now, which gives off "not caring" vibes.

Actually, lots of people are like that these days. Especially retail shop workers, who are looking over your shoulder while your still there, to serve the next person (type of thing).

Mate, your godfather sounds like an immaculate role model. You're very lucky. In the past 3-4 years, my entire family has passed away from illness, accidents and other horrible things, so I envy you buddy. Guess that's the reason I'm very bipolar here (up and down) - which is something I'm trying to work on.

Sorry guys, not derailing the thread here haha. But I DO love Patty Roy - in the same vein as you mate.

If Wheeler is a cancer Mackinnon is worldwide Ebola. Two guys that will do anything to win and demand that you do the same. Yes you do need some counterbalance but i don't have any issues bringing more of that in.

Wheeler bullied Laine out of the Winnipeg and bitched and moaned to Scheifele and Maurice a lot to keep his position as a first line rw. All this while wearing a captain’s C in his chest.

I think I can speak for everybody here when I say that your optimistic, positive view on life, amidst every reason to be the opposite due to some tragedies, is admirable.

There’s a special place for people like you.

Alright, back to hockey. :D

Good that he already won his trophies ... it's all downhill from here :P

If Mackinnon was the captain there are probably some guys he would have ran out of town. Issue was making Wheeler the captain, thankfully Mackinnon will never ever be the captain here.

That's a very long way of saying, "thanks but no thanks" lol

Only because they were forced to use it last year, and again this year with Landy. They have been hesitant to downright stubborn to use it in the past. Just seems odd they would suddenly change their stance to add a guy, and then immediately put him on LTIR after openly criticizing other teams that do it.

A cleanskin mate.

Oh thank God. Never in 100 years would I have figured out this is what that meant

This is like the time it took a 5 minute conversation with an Aussie to realize when he said ‘tea’ that he meant dinner. Most confusing conversation I have ever had sober
