I believe in second chances.

Redemption stories make for some of the best sport storylines. If Duchene is willing to take a cup chasing deal, I will personally petition Ball Arena to play only the best country music when Duchene scores a goal.

Great deals are to be had with all these buyouts, we need to go full court press with convincing guys like Duchene to take a cheap deal.

I’m dead serious. Bring back Dutchy for $2M.
I don't get the Duchene hate. The dude wanted out because he saw no vision at the time for the team. But he never demanded a "deadline" for his trade. He stayed and played until Sakic found the Ottawa/Nashville trade. The worst thing he ever said was "I wanted to go someplace I can win" and it's not surprising that he'd say that after the last full season in Colorado he spent we went 22-56-4.

There have been way worse players in plenty of sports that have forced their GMs hand to make the quickest worst deal possible. I hold no resentment at all for Duchene. Guy kept his head down in a place that wasn't winning and asked for a trade somewhere else and let the GM of the team find the right deal.

I have a lot more issues with Paul Stastny than Duchene. As Stastny said he wanted to be here and then walked to maybe our biggest Rival.

Duchene was an honest broker in his trade request, especially as he was approaching UFA status. I had no issues then or now with how he handled himself. And I am sure how it has ultimately worked out has humbled him, as the team got off to a good start the season he was traded the blockbuster that sent him to Ottawa put the fast forward button on the rebuild.

You're not taking into account that he's a big bitch ass loser crybaby.

I'd love to have him back and scoring goals for a redemption season. People that hate Duchene at this point just need to let it go. He gave us 8 years of his career and was a fan favorite. We've since won a cup and developed a great team culture. Let's try and get the guy a cup with us. He still has what it takes to put up points.

This is just the public stuff, nevermind the stuff that only some people know.

You must be insane to think Joe Sakic would ever want a person like this in his organization ever again.

Stanley Cup winning coach Jared Bednar on the team after the Duchene trade…

“The overall chemistry of our group certainly improved,” Bednar said.

This is revisionist. Duchene whined and pouted a lot, before and especially after his trade request.
