Put Colton on Mackinnon's wing so Colton can take draws and re-unite Mack and Rantanen. Then Lehkonen and Nichushkin with Johansson to do the dirty work.

I'd be stunned if we make both 1st round selections.

But I think we probably make 1, and then find another now player with the other.

Unless they are planning on going really big and getting a big name with both their 1sts. Don't see that happening but you never know.
 
As the Avs sit with Colton, Byram, and Malgin (I don't think he'll be qualified) as RFAs to re-sign. The Avs have 15.5m with 7F-5D-2G. Say Byram and Colton take up $8m combined. That leaves the Avs with 7m for 4-5 forwards and 1 defensemen. If the accept Dermy as a float and don't go for an extra. They can spend ~3m on one player and round out with $1m deals elsewhere. Max is pretty much $4m on one guy and they'd have to go league min on the other 4. There might still be some cap clearing or the Avs may have to really work to trim Byram down... and they probably don't want to take the risk of an offersheet here.

I'm hoping we can bridge Byram at around 4 million and get Colton signed around 3 million.

Shaving a million off your estimates. We'll see tho.
