I wonder if the Kings ask Danault to waive his NMC now that they added Dubois?

Cap Friendly says they have a 16 man roster signed with only $4.5M to fill out the rest, which includes a starting goalie. Do they keep Danault to play 3C for $5.5M?

Maybe he only waives to go to a contender like the Avs and CMac makes another great value trade?

I think they’ll trade Arvidsson to clear up space?

I feel really good about the first two moves of the off-season.

Definitely feels like a bounce back for McFarland.

That being said, I’ll be really disappointed if they don’t move at least one of the 1sts. The forward group is incomplete and it would be a real missed opportunity to make all three of those picks in the top-37.

Rumour has it Klim Kostin is looking for a contract in the ballpark of 1.7M - 2M per season.

Watching him play last season in Edmonton I would have no issues giving him that contract and playing him on the 3rd line. Big body, can skate like the wind, hits everything and has a lethal shot. Seemed to figure out his role in Edmonton last year.

They have something like 7 forwards signed for next year. Incomplete is an understatement.

Good on MacFarland for having two good moves in a vacuum but he’s still got a lot of work to do if the Avs want to chase another cup.

The way I see it next season is:

XXX - MacKinnon - Nichushkin
Lehkonen - Johansen - Rantanen
XXX - XXX - Foudy
XXX - XXX - O'Connor

I think it's a foregone conclusion that Jonathan Drouin is playing for the Avs next season and playing on the top line with MacKinnon. Probably for 1M, too.

Leaves MacFarland with 13.727M to find 4 forwards and 2 defensemen (this total includes Oloffson and MacDermid as healthy scratches).

If Byram is on the high end (IMO) and gets ~3.727M for simplicity sake, having 10M to find 4 forwards and 1 defensemen - while tough - is not something that should prove impossible. And that's with the Avs retaining all of Toews, Girard and Byram.

The 4th line should not be making in total more than 3.5M. They just shouldn't, and that's on the high end. Avs need to be able to find bargains there.

Please don’t resign Nieto. He is nothing like Helm or Cogliano. Most forgettable bottom 6 forward
