My honest and fair expectation is that they chip in here and there. Too many games last year the Avs lost because no one other than MacKinnon/Makar/Rantanen didn't show up. I said it to several other teams' fans heading in to the playoffs that the book was out on them: You shut down those three, you're likely winning the game and series. What's you honest and fair expectation productivity wise for a bottom 6 in the NHL (say on average)?
Also, for example, of Malgins 21 points, how many games was that over, and what would the total be if you extrapolate that out to 82 games?
So impressed with CMac/Sakic right now.
Didn't wait until the value was completely gone like they did with Jost. Way to learn from your mistakes.
When Nathan MacKinnon has to be on the ice for you to get anything close to a good scoring chance, some changes need to be made.Looks like the Avs are all in on making some changes for this year. Bednar seemed frustrated with the personnel he had during his end of the season presser.

No way Garland costs a 1st based on the Ryjo and Hayes trades. I could see him getting a little more than Hayes but a 1st seems like overkill.

Wonder if this is a fair trade:
27 for Sharangovich + 2nd? Or would that need to be a 3rd?
I’d go for a package of Backlund and Toffoli, both retained.
- If we believe at face value that RyJo is the #2C then a super strong #3 would be ideal. Backlund’s usage last year was actually closer to 1st line than 3rd line but given his age, he’d easily slide down to elite third line center status. And just a massive PK presence.
- Toffoli would give us a versatile top six winger who can really score while not being a liability in effort or responsible play.
- Analytically, Backlund and Toffoli were the Flames two best forwards last year - ahead of Lindholm, Huberdeau, Kadri etc by miles. Their fancy graphs will tickle the fancy of our analytics group for sure.
- Both are UFA’s and coming off the books next summer when we might have to think about Landeskog coming back and/or a Toews extension. Backlund will be eligible for a 35+ contract I believe.
Fills our forward depth with scoring and versatile veterans with no major commitments past this year.
Lehkonen/Nuke-MacK-Toffoli/Moose
Lehkonen/Nuke-RyJo-Toffoli/Moose
With Backlund centering the third line and playing up when needed.
I personally like this better than putting all our eggs and 7-8 years of contact extension into one Lindholm basket.
I'm all on board for Backlund at 3C.
If he’s getting a first I’d hope the contract is a nice length with a solid AAV.
Has anyone come looking for you yet? If they get anywhere near just yell "BAD CHINESE!"I don’t think I’m getting anything done at work today either. Been on a 20 minute bathroom break.
