Newhook deal has restored all of my faith in CMac.

This is a perfect example of learning from previous mistakes. Not making the Jost mistake twice.

This was also literally twice as much value as I thought they'd get. It was literally like Sunday that I said I think Newhooks value was worth a pick in the 30-40 range and they just got 2 of em lol.

Now it will be especially interesting to see what else they've got cooking. If they used all 3 picks I wouldn't hate it completely because our prospect pool is a joke right now...

But at the same time even just one of those 1sts could get us a really good player with how desperate teams are to dump cap space at the moment.

Go get Garland from Vancouver with 50% retention for the #27 pick.

What’s unclear at this point is if McFalrland has something in the works for a new addition, or if Bednar told him he’d rather pay his son JT 4 than Newhook 2.

I have a feeling that Newhook probably wanted out.
I get the feeling that Avs prospects that can't seem to do what Bedsy wants or needs them to be doing probably end up very frustrated. This move helps everyone. I like Newhook, but it's been really hard to see what we had in him and time was kinda up with the RFA thing. Best case scenario.

No way Garland costs a 1st based on the Ryjo and Hayes trades. I could see him getting a little more than Hayes but a 1st seems like overkill.

Possibly. He showed some signs but I don't really think he's got the tools. He somewhat reminds me of a less physical Andrighetto.

I would qualify ERod as more of a Top-9 player rather than a Bottom 6 player, he was all over lines 1-3 at various times, but no matter let's take a quick statistical look:

Rodrigues: 39 points
Malgin: 21 points
Newhook: 30 points
Cogliano: 19 points
O'Connor: 26 points

Again, Rodrigues is more a Top-9/Middle-6 as opposed to a pure Bottom-6 player, so he almost shouldn't really be included in this.

We're not even getting in to other rotational players that came in and out.

There really isn't any way to spin this positively--the Avs did not have good depth up and down the lineup, and the players who you're pumping up...they were a lot closer to the 25 point mark as opposed to the 40 point mark you're putting out there.

What's your honest and fair expectation productivity wise for a bottom 6 in the NHL (say on average)?

Also, for example, of Malgins 21 points, how many games was that over, and what would the total be if you extrapolate that out to 82 games?

Lundell & Duclair for Girard, Avs 1st 2023, 2024, and 20205.
Laughton for Florida 1st and Foudy.
Sharangovich for Montreal 2nd.

Yeah, i'm thinking crazy stuff.
