The tournament is clearly inspired by European soccer and... sometimes star European soccer players play Cup matches that end up being blowouts.
That's still different than a team going balls to the wall to win a basketball game by 30. I get what you're saying but even goal difference in soccer feels different than what the Celtics had to do the other night.

The Celtics have two stars who are selfish showboaters, and a coach with absolutely no control over it. I watched most of the first quarter and turned it off in disgust after the eight needless turnovers and the lack of hustle. This team is winning nothing with Mazzulla, Brown and Tatum. What a waste of talent. I will give Mazzulla some credit, he called an early time out to, I imagine, chew them out for their absurdly selfish play. It's human nature with Philly's two stars out you say. I say they will lose games they shouldn't and definitely lose when the going gets even moderately tough. It is freaking 72-69 Sixers at half. That is disgusting. 72 points without their stars? It's just horrible stuff from the Celtics.

It's a boring non-in season tournament game, they're saving all they have for Monday night. :sarcasm:

It is darkly hilarious that they quite rightly threw out Tatum for whining about calls. How is he going to keep going one on three or four and turning the ball over more than half the time. when that happens?;) Despite having two very mature players in White and Holiday, this team has a character problem.

I watched the highlights of the other three quartrs, and I swear the game was scripted to keep the Sixers close for Espn's sake. Tatum and Brown your job is to play like selfish idiots. Beverly, you will incredibly hit almost every outside shot, while we selectively call fouls on each side.....The NBA, it's not fantastic anymore...

The day Joe Mazzulla is fired will be a great day, hopefully before he wastes another season. This is a 65+ win regular season team held back because they have a dumbass coaching them.

Another close loss when they can't make three pointers and no adjustments are made, even against one of the worst defensive teams in the league like the Pacers. A coach obsessed by shooting 3 pointers but also coaches a team bottom 5 in the league for opponent three pointers attempted per game despite having 6 great switchable defenders on the roster. Stevens has been a great gm but it was Belichick-esque in how instead of going out and getting a qualified coach to replace Udoka, he gave it to the guy he brought in to sit in the 2nd row.

Disagree about Pritchard.

Kornet should only be in when the game is out of reach
Kornet is bench fodder and Pritchard is a guy that should give you 5-10 minutes like the Pacers gave McConnell and Nembhard tonight.

Those are not guys that should be in your rotation for 15-20 minutes with just one injury. They need to upgrade those spots badly

Brown fails to deliver in a big game. He got lots of points but in the 3rd he missed 5 in a row, just one of many examples.
Blame the coach, every player on the roster is going to go cold at times when they force up shots from the perimeter to keep the coach happy. The team shot 61% on non three point field goals, Brown 75% and Tatum 61%. Tatum, Brown and White the three best drivers on the team shot 84% in the restricted area. The reason they lost is the same reason they lose 90% of games with Mazzulla, obsessed by shooting three pointers and go cold.
