Looking at Vaisanen's stat line is not all that encouraging or at least so far. He's played for TPS in Liiga for 3 years now:

20-21 32GP-1G-4A-5pts-8pm.
21-22 47GP-4G-1A-5pts-8pm
and so far in
22-23 36GP-6G-2A-8pts-8pm

That said he's still 20 almost 21 (in January) years old. He's got very good size at 6'5 and has played for two Finnish WJC teams more than less on checking lines. For his size he gets around pretty good. My guess though is if he can't starting producing a bit more we're not going to sign him.

I'm basically with you on the others though I will say that Pajuniemi definitely is good enough to hang as a pretty decent AHL player. He pretty much proved that and these other guys I suspect won't even come close to that.

I think looking at production can be very misleading, especially with guys like Väisänen. I'm not saying he's going to 100% succeed in NA, but he has a lot of similarities with Adam Edström, in the way he plays.

And Edström showed literally 0 progress production-wise for 3 years.

Väisänen still has a lot of bulking up to do with his big frame. And I wouldn't be surprised if it takes him 2-3 years in Hartford to really get to where he needs to be. He's not invisible like Aaltonen was at least. He needs to be better, yes. But he's not yet a "lost prospect" IMO.

You might be right that Vaisanen needs more patience but I did caveat it by saying 'so far'. I think though I was always a bit more encouraged by Edstrom. For one thing I had the impression even in 20, 21 and 22 Rogle put him into a role of bottom 6 player. As well he had better playoff production stats. Another thing I see a role for us that Edstrom could fit into maybe as soon as next year. He can play center....he can play on the wing. His skating is excellent for a big man. Vaisanen isn't a center at all and the Rangers have a number of younger wings and prospects that I really don't see him beating out in the foreseeable future.

I liked what I saw from him at the WJC last year, but I want to see what he can do in the AHL. That will be the real measuring stick.

Bryce McConnell-Barker took a disgusting elbow to the head after scoring a goal against London on 12/10. He was diagnosed with a concussion and has missed the last five games including the two so far after the Christmas holiday. I haven't heard any updates on him but that's really unfortunate. He had been picking it up lately, too, in terms of production. The guy that hit him was suspended 10 games and is the son of former enforcer Eric Boulton.
I'm glad the guy was suspended. Was it a first offence for that guy? Sadly this kind of thing is part of the hockey culture. And btw, every sport has high emotions. Why is it ok in only hockey to assault opponents... And for what? Performing well...?

Edström also did it in a much better league of course.

Yeah, he's looked fine. D+1 players rarely have a big role for USA at the WJC. I do wonder if the injury to Snuggerud changes things a bit and his line gets more minutes in the knockout stage.
Is he injured? They were saying he was just sitting out due to being under the weather last game.

Soo is playing Oshawa in the OHL. It would be BMB against Roobroeck, but unfortunately BMB is missing his seventh straight game, having last played 12/10 when he was concussed by a headshot after scoring a goal.

FWIW his coach said on NYE that he was expecting him to be back tonight. So good news that he's progressing, but I guess he's not quite there yet.
