I really don't remember him from the Soo team last season when he was injured for most of it. This season I've seen him a few times, he has decent skill but is more of a sparkplug, energy guy than anything. Plays in all situations and all over the ice. I like him. Maybe a decent late round flyer.
With the lack of depth at center ice, Rangers should be interested

Re:Sykora will join the team in Sweden. Sounds like he is being slotted as 3LW
In before there’s an outcry for not being slotted higher in the lineup (if this is actually the case) it would illustrate that someone in charge is paying attention and trying to maximize Sykora’s effectiveness based on his particular skill set.

Ultimately the actual position in the lines will change as the tournament progresses and based on games. Last year in the QF against Canada he played 22 minutes which was the most among forwards and the third most overall, only the 2 top dmen played more

I mean, yea if he was going to the NHL.

He will be one of the best players Slovakia has. And that includes offensively. He's not going to be getting 15 minutes of ice time on the 3rd line when the tournament starts lol.

If history is anything to go by, the order of the lines doesn't always match the ice time they get, especially with European teams.

Bryce McConnell-Barker took a disgusting elbow to the head after scoring a goal against London on 12/10. He was diagnosed with a concussion and has missed the last five games including the two so far after the Christmas holiday. I haven't heard any updates on him but that's really unfortunate. He had been picking it up lately, too, in terms of production. The guy that hit him was suspended 10 games and is the son of former enforcer Eric Boulton.

Max Barbashev has 11 points in 13 games with new team Rimouski which isn't appreciably better than what he did for Shawinigan, which was 9 points in 15 games. He's shooting at a higher percentage but otherwise it's more of the same. Tough circumstances being traded twice already, but you'd hope to see a step forward this season and he's stuck in neutral (if not heading in reverse). He's still a decent bottom six prospect, but any hopes of him being something close to his brother--which were kind of silly to begin with--are all but gone. I'm not sure he's a lock for a contract at this point, which the Rangers have until this summer to offer him.

Dylan Roobroeck is having a decent season with 27 points in 31 games, although that's only slightly ahead of his pace from last season. He reminds me somewhat of Tim Gettinger although not nearly as strong, just in terms of being a big guy with decent numbers but when you watch him, you get that nagging "Is this guy anything more than a junior player?" feeling.

Over in Europe, Lauri Pajuniemi has 19 points in 28 SHL games, but that shipped has sailed. I doubt he comes back, for us or anyone. Oliver Tarnstrom has 10 points in 28 games in HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden's second tier, which kind of cements the "not a prospect" label for him. He's also due a contract offer this summer or he's done in the organization. Kalle Vaisanen has 8 points in 36 games for TPS in Finland. He's still young, and doesn't play a lot, but you'd want to see something more from him. Still worth following, but he'll need to pick it up to earn a contract by summer 2025.

Unfortunate development for BMB. Hopefully he’s able to fully (and speedily) recover and get back to playing.

You’re probably right re Barbashev contract prospects. He’s been a long shot to begin with and at his age being under a PPG and pretty meh SOG in the Q is not a good sign. Probably someone else will be able to give him a shot in this scenario probably at least partially because of his name. Maybe Vegas.

Looking at Vaisanen's stat line is not all that encouraging or at least so far. He's played for TPS in Liiga for 3 years now:

20-21 32GP-1G-4A-5pts-8pm.
21-22 47GP-4G-1A-5pts-8pm
and so far in
22-23 36GP-6G-2A-8pts-8pm

That said he's still 20 almost 21 (in January) years old. He's got very good size at 6'5 and has played for two Finnish WJC teams more than less on checking lines. For his size he gets around pretty good. My guess though is if he can't starting producing a bit more we're not going to sign him.

I'm basically with you on the others though I will say that Pajuniemi definitely is good enough to hang as a pretty decent AHL player. He pretty much proved that and these other guys I suspect won't even come close to that.
