It figures the Bruins would get a solid future talent in the 5th round in 21 draft in Oskar Jellvik. Back to back awesome shifts.

Beginning to think we might need to assess where Perreault's at at the end of the year. It's almost like if Adam Fox was a forward. He's kind of giving me Brian Leetch vibes in the way that when Brian was drafted he was thought by a lot of people to be too small and weak to become an NHL defenseman and that he'd probably end up converting to a center/forward......and then he went to BC and literally in his freshman year became the best player in his conference. After that no one talked about him being a forward anymore. He didn't play a second year at BC because the next year was the Olympic year and back then North American pros weren't really eligible. Those players chosen then were for the most part the best American college players but played all together a schedule against minor league and college teams until the Olympics started and that was a pretty stacked US Olympic team and he was easily the best player on it and when the Olympics ended he signed with the Rangers.

there is little Gabe could do between now and the end of the year that would convince me that it’s time for him to go pro.

He needs to grow.
I think that no matter how he scorches this league, he needs another year of physical maturity. I’d say after his sophomore season, maybe for the 24-25 NHL playoffs, should be the earliest he signs.

It's best to go back to the somewhat conservative approach. Don't rush anyone.

Let him continue to get man strength for another season while playing in all kinds on international best ofs (maybe even the World Championahips in April-May) and then for fall 2025, it might be time.

There's going to be a large forced retooling on the Rangers between now and fall 2025; a lot of the young guys like Othmann, Sykora, Edstrom will either force their way onto the roster, or be packed. Perrault can be part of the next wave of fresh prospects to keep the cap down/ELCs. Not this one.

There are exceptions but pretty much.

If he wins the hobey baker and leads the nation in scoring while ripping up the frozen four en route to a championship then I’m reconsidering. At that point you’ve done pretty much everything you can do at that level. That isn’t likely to happen.

They’d have to carve out some weird Leo Carlsson esque plan for him though. The above is unlikely so a second year in the NCAA is like 99% going to be the most likely outcome and it’s probably the right one.

Probably.....but we do see undersized and understrengthed guys come in very young and do well these days and make some impact. Examples---well Jack Hughes and Bedard for two but Farabee, Zegras (maybe not so much undersized but he's not that strong), Jarvis, Mercer, Poitras. There's elusiveness to all these guys which seems to be in Perreault's wheelhouse though too.

Rangers organization still has PTSD for how some of the other prospects were rushed. Everything is much more conservative now. Even how they treat injuries.

Gabe now tied in 3rd in scoring in the NCAA. Will be heading to the WJCs soon so he’ll lose that nice spot on the leaderboard

BMB had 1+1 giving him 5-4-9 on his last 6 and finally getting him back to a point per game for the season (12-18-30 in 30). Hopefully he continues to produce. Looks good when I check on on him.

His Soo team is wayyyyy better this year than they were last year and they don't rely on him as their only source of offense.

I want what I want
Ya didn’t realize that till after I posted it.
Yeah, legitimately I don't think BC could field a full roster if they had to play a game while the guys are away. It's likely that 4 of their top 6 forwards, one d-man and their starting goalie will be at the WJC. just crazy!

As an aside. In regards to GP (I can't type his last name consistently so I'm going with the initials for now on lol), it's nice that he's getting all these points, i'm just more impressed with his vision, instincts and IQ. Even if he had less points because others couldn't finish his beautiful set ups (think Laf), I'd still be really encouraged by the way he's played. For example, even though there is a lot of runway left, while Smith has a couple of less points, I think both GP and Leonard have been way more impressive.
