Is Kjellberg still our property? Thanks

He's still listed on our reserve list, but he doesn't seem to be playing anywhere.

Presumably, but his status is kind of up in the air. He was due to play another season at Northern Michigan where we would have held his rights as a college player, but it appears that he may have decided to either hang them up or at least take a break. I don't know if he's a bona fide college student at this time, and if he's not, good f***ing luck figuring out his eligibility.

He was probably unlikely to receive a contract, anyway, but now it looks like he's basically done regardless.

What he's done with RPI and Northern Michigan leads me to think if he wanted he could catch on with an Allsvenskan-esqe team in his native Sweden or even a team in the ECHL. My guess is he's taking a break. If I remember his brother was recruited and going to start his freshman year at Northern Michigan too and he's not on their roster anymore either. So there's something going on.....maybe a family issue.

The Providence College site has Chmelar listed at 6'5 221 lbs. So he's been growing and is pretty much a monster. He's done pretty well also for the last two Czech WJC teams. From a 'who is this guy?' when we drafted him to what he's doing now is a big step forward. I think there's a possibility the Rangers sign him after this college season. Of our forward prospects outside the pros he's definitely in my top 3 with Gaudreau No. 1. After that it's McConnell-Barker and Chmelar and I'm not sure Chmelar won't be No. 2 pretty soon.

He's definitely ready physically. The NCAA is not an easy league for kids to play in from a physical standpoint but Chmelar does a lot of damage around the net by being stronger than everyone.

Yeah the thing with his brother decommitting was weird. Like, they weren't going to be playing together, so it makes you think maybe something changed in their personal lives.

His dad would definitely be able to get him a tryout somewhere if that's what they wanted to do. Maybe they have some other venture lined up as a family pursuit.

Boyko and Lindbom each have a start under their belts for ECHL Cincinnati and have combined to allow 9 goals on 57 shots across two losses.

What about Perreault?

Just to add, Chmelar has 20 shots in 6 games whereas last year he had 53 in 33. Growth across the board.

Pretty sure ‘Gaudreau’ actually supposed to re GAbe perrEAUlt

Given how many drafted Fs signed and joined Pack last 2+ years(Othmann, Cuylle, Edstrom, Berard, Sykora, Korczak, Rempe, Trivigno(UDFA), karlH)
not concerned that the amateur F depth is shallower for now.
Adding Barbashev, Laba, Vaisenen, Karpa to Gabe, BMB, Chmelar plus the couple guys drafted late in ‘23 is decent, behind the young pros, (some, like Othmann, Sykora very young)
