Leafs D has been questionable at best for a decade + now, not sure if it`s poor identification of talent who can actually play D or simply a belief scoring more than opponents is the blueprint

Too many forwards who are far more committed to breaking the D zone in favor of trying to get offensive opportunities. You watch, as an example, our team, the system hasn`t changed much defensively under Monty, still C heavy with that position being vital for defensive success, you don`t see the wingers standing high on the blueline, more often than not, they drift to just above hash marks to give their teammates a quick and short pass target

Not a perfect system as often an opponents D is left open initially and you have to bust ass if the puck gets back to them to break a play up but the B`s more often than not have players committed to playing in their own zone, the Leafs, not so much

Like I said in the GDT, I'm so glad John Tavares isn't captain of the Bruins. The guy was getting smacked around after the whistle in the first period and just stood there with a dumb look on his face, didn't even look remotely interested in pushing back. Just not a good look. Marchand would have at least sticked a guy in the ribs or something.

You add in the attitude of Mitch Marner who seems to think they're playing fantastic hockey and it's a complete clown show.

I'm picturing a coach drawing this up on the whiteboard during a timeout and the players looking befuddled.

"Um, you want us to do what coach?"

Love it.

The positioning kind of reminds me of playing chess with someone that doesn't understand how, all their rooks on the opposite side of the board of where their defenseless king is about to get checkmate.

Tavares has to be the most plain/boring guy in the league. He probably fills out insurance papers on his days off and then shreds them so he can fill more out.

That's awful, but what the hell are the 3 forwards doing? Not one guy feels the need to cover the guy up high sneaking into the middle of the ice? Jesus, that looks like my beer league squad

When you are making $11M a year, hanging out with Bieber, and play in a city that sells out no matter the quality of the product, who needs to backcheck?

Shots fired...

Maybe they'll finally get it together, but this is Turnstile Toronto.

They go through coaches and management on a regular basis. And seemingly, it's always the same story, with the same result.

Keefe is either waving the white flag, throwing his players under the bus, or showing up management. Likely all three.

The Leafs organization, fan base and media are a toxic mess, and have been for DECADES.

The dysfunction and hysterical drama are gruesome to watch.

A once great franchise, "Canada's team." It's sad.
