never liked asking players to drop down to block shots, wouldn't mind if they made it a rule that they were not allowed to. Someone is going to get a 100mph shot to the face because the coaches want them to sacrifice their life to block a puck, when the goalie is paid to do it. The game has changed, the equipment, the players.. anyhoo, fatso is gone for a bit

I mean surely injuries wouldn't occur as much if they played a more offensive system... i.e. get more than 5 shots a period. Although most of them have been just accidents, Savard's injury could be prevented if they didn't turtle the last 10 minutes of every game.

PK Subban understood that and was one of the D with the least blocked shots.

6 months injury for 2 blocked shots
That's crazy
They called that "courage". I call that stupidity.

Savard is a big blow. I know he's not much of a favourite around here, and this group doesn't really care for character and the d zone, but he is the glue that keeps that kid defense somewhat stable. As big a loss as Dach from a team's ability to win games standpoint.

The first time, Habs had Weber and Price out for most of the season before it even started thanks to the playoff finishing whatever was left of their bodies.

The second time, it was Price and Byron.

This year, it's Price and Dach.

In a year or two, it's going to be Price and Gallagher on Robidas's island.

Habs will be a top "injured" team until Price's contract is gone.

Dunno Iafrate and MacInnis slap shot were pretty hard.

Iafrate fastest shot was recorder at 105 miles
MacInnis was recorder at 100 miles.

That was fast enough to injure someone.
Al MacInnis kept his shot down at least.

Not saying it can't happen but it's FAR too early to be projecting any team to have the most MGL at the end of the year.

And can just about understand (if still disagree with) an argument that Price should count in the numbers for last year rather than being treated as retired (which he pretty clearly is, semantics over being allowed to formally declare it or not aside), but it'd be pretty nonsensical to still count him four years into his retirement.
