Prospect Info: 2023 1st Rd Selection - #28 OA (via BOS, WSH) - C, Easton Cowan [London Knights, OHL; [Height 5.11 -- Weight 185]

Watched a lot of Cowan on youtube a couple days ago. One thing i noticed is his shooting accuracy is fantastic and if he can increase the velocity he could potentially pot 30. His energy, willingness to battle and offensive creativity along with his knack for reading opposing defensive coverage are all at a high level.
I came away from that video session with more enthusiasm than i had when I entered it.

Rereading the first few pages of this thread is good lol.

I'm sure many will do a complete 180 on this pick by the end of the season.

Has so many of the characteristics you want in a later pick and has a lot of nhl translatability in his game. Hes smart, skates well, grit and has a motor. Also, he was a late riser. Seeing a lot of development as the year goes on in their draft year is always a positive. It means theyre just scratching the surface and have a lot of room to grow.

I didn't look at the rosters for the Leafs or Stars but watching the game last night, he didn't look small out there compared to everyone else. Based on his draft profile, you would have expected size to be an issue.

Not comparing the playing styles but this pick kind of reminds me of the Konecny pick. If Cowan can turn into a Konecny player that would be a huge win.

It is funny you say that because that is exaxctly how I described him a Konecny clone. He has all of the intangibles winning teams look for in a player. Can score in all facets, tenacity, high heart and motor, defensively responsible.

Agree, but every kid should have high energy in prospect camp. He really appears to love to play.
Hated his interview post game, sounds like Marner already. Question matters little, just give sound bite number 2.

What did he say post game?

He kind of me of Marchand in some ways. He's small and compact, but has the skating to go wherever he wants to and pinballs around and has the tight puckhandling and protection. Puck follows him around and seems like he can make whatever play he wants to and has the vision to see things open up.

Didn't have the best start to todays game but ended very strong and helped his team win.

He was very impressive in these 3 games.

Very quick, good offensive creativity, good hockeysense and plays with lots of grit.

I think he had his best game when he was playing Center, which is also a good sign for future upside that he could possibly play that position.

Pretty crazy how much rage there was from our fanbase when this pick was made and I wonder how quick of a 180 will happen with people's opinion of the pick.

My hope for this year is that he puts up 100 pts with the Knights and gets consideration for Team Canada

Why is that a bad thing and what did you expect him to say?
Don't blow a friggin gasket, I just said he has received coaching on not to comment to media, sounds like Mitchy. Bland bland, Yada Yada.
Would be nice to see unbridled enthusiasm, but that has already been coached out if him.

Just like Minten, crazy young.
These are all crap shoots, I like what I have seen so far.
