One year left in the KHL on his current contract. Able to find some KHL highlights, look likes he is a fixture on the point on the PP. Unable to tell much else from the brief clips of his KHL playoff games as they are just highlights of the overall game. His teams D gets torched often but it is rarely him which is a good sign.

According to his KHL profile page, he's under contract in the KHL until May 30, 2024. So he'll play next year in the KHL and then he's free to come over.

That kills the rumor the Habs won't have anything to do with Russians.

As Bobrov answered a question about that. Someone told him that Kent said yesterday the main reason they didn't go with Michkov was because they didn't get to see much of him, particularly in person. So someone brought that comment up and said what made them choose Konyushov and Volokhin even though they didn't have viewings of them either.

He said that where they were picking these guys, the risk/reward ratio was worth it.

Martin Lapointe also brought up his 3 years contract along with the unknowns when talking about passing over Michkov in a short interview with Lavoie at the end of the draft.

All in all, it wasn't one specific thing. It was an accumulation of flags that made them go with my baby boy David.

Very intriguing pick. @Natey went over it in the gdt of the draft thread, and it’s pretty impressive to see what he was able to achieve.

Might amount to nothing in the long run, can’t say I’ve ever seen him, but it’s nice to see a pick with some offensive upside.

We see more teams targeting older Russian players in late rounds so they don’t have to fight for their rights against 20 other team if they ever reach their ceiling.

I wonder if they saw him during their European Combine (if that happened this year) a bit like Kostenko a few years ago.

I just hope they won’t bring him over in a year just to put him in the stands or third pair before sending him to Trois-Rivières where he will leave after a month never to be seen again.

Larianov is giving this kid top playing time. Thats good enough for me. We'll see what happens here, but it's an interesting pick at least.

Yea. He plays a lot. Unlike Kostenko who would get 15 minutes one game and then 4 games of 2 minutes or less of ice time.

Konyoushov plays 20+ minutes a game. And even some where he's close to 30.

He has one more year in the KHL. And then he's free to come over.

I somehow suspect this guy might've been kind of a part-time scout for the Habs in Russia this season:

What makes you say that?

Also, do you have any gifs or twitter links to some of his production this year? I'd like to see him do something on the ice lol.

Same team as Konyushkov and from Montreal, would be rather likely that they reached out to him somehow.

Konyushkov isn't much of a highlight-generating player, but here's a bit of something:

Video of Konyushkov. He is wearing number #6 in most of the clips in either his black or white team jerseys. Looks super responsible with the puck and no extreme deficiencies but no incredible tools either. Looks like if he makes a strong career it will be due to his hockey sense, unfortunately from what I have seen he does not have too much bite in his game like Reinbacher does. Honestly any way you cut it to lead a KHL team on TOI as a rookie dman is impressive and for Larionov no less. I don't think this pick gets enough love, one more year in the KHL and a transitionary year or 2 in the AHL maybe he turns into a RHD on our 2nd or 3rd pairing. Looks like all of our dmen will have strong two way games just pending Mailloux and Hudson developing defensively. Underrated pick, I love the Fowler pick as well. The other late draft picks however I am very weary on lol.
