He's proven he can play in the KHL which is good. Don't know anything about him but this is the first intriguing pick we've had.
Larionov was his coach last season and gave him the most minutes on D even if he was the youngest. A RHD.. Have we found our future Markov ?I know nothing about him besides looking at his eliteprospects for 2 minutes but my first reaction is that I'm kinda intrigued by the trajectory here.
He's 20 so he's a double-overager, and would have been 2021 draft eligible. In 20-21 he was playing in the NMHL (not the MHL, the NMHL, the tier 2 Russian U20 league), and then 21-22 in the VHL, 22-23 puts up 25 points as a dman in the KHL. That's a pretty crazy trajectory in 3 years, the North American analogy is going from the AJHL at 18 to the AHL at 19 to the NHL at 20.
Do we have room for him in the AHL?He is AHL ready.
Even i who has defended Hugo is starting to wonder seriously.I figured they would have nothing to do with Russians then they choose one at this stage of the draft .
I wrote a bit about him in this free article here:

Habs just don’t want anything to do with superstar game breaking talent. That kills the rumor the Habs won't have anything to do with Russians.
Yeah a guy who is a #1 defenceman in the KHL at 20 years old has no chance....This guy will never play in the nhl no risk for molson.
I'm mildly joking man. But the push for kirktr that was present under MB is still there under the new management.Yeah a guy who is a #1 defenceman in the KHL at 20 years old has no chance....
I'm not thrilled with the draft either, but this kid is a legit a #1 defenseman at 20 in the second best league in the world.I'm mildly joking man. But the push for kirktr that was present under MB is still there under the new management.
No, but taking one in the 4th round is a little different than 5th OA.That kills the rumor the Habs won't have anything to do with Russians.
It was said that the Habs wouldn't draft any russian. No, but taking one in the 4th round is a little different than 5th OA.
How do you knowThis guy will never play in the nhl no risk for molson.
He also went from just making the team this year to being their #1 defenseman down the stretch and in the playoffs. At 20.I know nothing about him besides looking at his eliteprospects for 2 minutes but my first reaction is that I'm kinda intrigued by the trajectory here.

A lot of things are said by people who don't have any really source of information. It was said that the Habs wouldn't draft any russian.
Yes, I'm saying the information was wrong.A lot of things are said by people who don't have any really source of information.
