Finland had collected the most points at the time of the decision, so Finland should be awarded the gold medals.
I sort of agree. Though I would like for it to be shared with Sweden (we beat Russia after all).

I disagree Canada did it the right way!Canada as a whole is a joke when it comes to this covid bs.
thanks for ruining my holidays iihf idiots. hopefully russia can do a better job next year then we did.
thanks for the gas lighting
100% agree.and if it takes statistics and mental gymnastics to reach a conclusion regarding the severity of the virus instead of facts… well, then it wasn’t all that severe after all.
But whatever the severity of the virus, the restrictions have caused way more damage in the end and has probably caused many more deaths than necessary due to mental illness.
To prevent serious sickness or death, to prevent hospitals from being overrun and letting us return to something close to normalcy.no it's not, these mandates haven't stopped anything the vaccinated can still spread the disease...so what's the point of them?
Alberta has a higher vaccination rate than Sweden. To prevent serious sickness or death, to prevent hospitals from being overrun and letting us return to something close to normalcy.
Unfortunately, there are still far too many unvaccinated people around, and it seems especially bad in parts of north america such as where this tournament was taking place.
In Sweden we played a full SHL season last year and again this year. A lot of things are "normal", even if there are restrictions and guidelines.
But we also have decent vaccine coverage. Not perfect, but decent. That's the key. Get the vaccination rate as high as possible.
Is everyone who does not 100% agree with the North American approach a covid denier and anti vaxxer?
Here in Finland, I could go watch a Liiga game tomorrow. I travelled from my home country, Canada, not far from the WJC, to Finland yesterday. The difference in how I was treated by Finland and my home country was stark. And the part that drives me crazy is how a lot of Canadians don't have any problem with it whatsoever.
Bring the heat.
makes sense with the revenue
- 50% capacity cuts from the government
- max attendance for one game was 4,000 people
- No Food or beverage allowed (that killed their bottom line apparently)
- 65% of the WJC game packages bought were returned
- averaged about 1,900 per game
this thing was destined to lose money
I was hoping for a peer reviewed soruce that accounts for the multi-week/month lag in reporting that often confounds these kinds of numbers until well into the following year. I assumed you had something like that.
This debacle should sink Tourdif.
All around, and to top it off the hotel rooms with a bloody wedding party in Red Deer happening at the same time as players are staying there is so far behind stupid.
No offence to the people of Red Deer, but man how does that happen? That’s incomprehensible that there wasn’t better planning.
I’m sorry I couldn’t meet your standards.
Hockey Canada did nothing wrong. What a mind boggling opinion from Hockey Canada.
Hockey Canada in Baghdad Bob mode. What a mind boggling opinion from Hockey Canada. Floor exclusivity is pointless. You can't avoid shared areas in a hotel. Instead of "floor exclusivity" at multiple hotels, they could have just rented an entire hotel and avoided this mess.
I think the vaccine has its purpose. The fact of the matter is other countries with lower vaccination rates are doing better than us. The vaccine is not some miracle cure that they’ve been selling us. In fact every single outcome they’ve predicted from it so far has been wrong. Getting everyone vaccinated will not end the pandemic that is abundantly clear.
Dean McIntosh. Don’t know the guy or ever heard of him but there’s a name I never want to hear again.
Hockey Canada just doubling down on this shit like in the emails they sent to people who purchased packages. The tone and how they handled that was sickening, I guess it was an omen for things to come with this tournament.
and there are roughly 7,750,000,000 people on earth.
that equals to about 0.07 of the world's population have died to corona.
even if we use the total WW corona infections of 283m to the 5.4m deaths, that still puts survival rate at 98.2
it is statistical fear mongering.
it's like when people try to use the scary stat of "1 in 500 WILL DIE of corona!" but that equals to 99.8 will live and be fine.
