That’s not the same thing and I’m not having a discussion about it. I live in Sweden where people are very pro vaccines (I am too) and have been for decades.

I get why people would be hesitant to take a vaccine that has been rushed, especially after the swine flu vaccine that caused a lot of people a lot of problems.

Swine flu was way deadlier than Covid and there was little to no panic as i recall it.
5.4 million people have died of covid. 289,000 people died of swine flu....

I don’t understand some people here. The I can’t do what I want crowd. I get the whole this plague thing is not fun to go through but holy f***. What can’t you do right now you could two years ago?

Watch a hockey tourney? Seriously? Get a hobby. Learn math. Buy a goldfish. Learn to read. There’s a whole world out there!

Or is it the mask thing? Just pretend like they’re pants and you have to wear them in public. Will be easier to handle then.

b]comparing death to Covid and WW1 is a terrible comparison[/b]..like I said, most of these deaths are the old, obese and immunocomprimised...not young healthy men fighting for their country

Yet you just compared Covid to cancer, heart attacks and opioid addictions, as though they're all the same and people can contract each similarly.

The reason Covid is dangerous is because it can be easily transmitted. The other three things you mentioned only affect the person who has it and thus, lockdowns, vaccines, contact tracing, etc. serve no purpose.

Please, show us the math that led you to this conclusion.

My math is simple. We closed down society to save people from dying from Covid and according to media, Sweden didn’t take it seriously in the beginning, resulting in a bloodbath..

small country like Sweden… I knew someone who knew someone who died in the 2004 tsunami and the Estonia disaster… combined ~2000 dead but no one out of 15000 untimely deaths from Covid?

It’s probably because 99% of all deaths were 70-100 year olds and not the poor people who are out of a job now.

WTF??? So the old, obese and immunocomprimise don't have any value? Their lives don't matter??? All lives matter and for you to say something like that is wrong and lacks compassion!

The level of ignorance in this post makes it a perfect candidate to be studied in 30 years by humans doing a postmortem of the covid decade of hysteria.

who's saying we shouldn't protect the elderly? they should be protected the most

You initially tried to minimize the amount of death caused by Covid. A poster then showed you a statistical analysis that the amount dead could rival WW2 with the numbers you gave.

You then tried to diminish the people dying of Covid based on the fact that the majority of them are overweight or the elderly.

A life is a life whether that person is young and healthy or old and obese. Stop looking at others like they are some kind of statistic, it’s an ugly f***ing trait.

You really think 320 people in hospital is overwhelming a province with 175 hospitals?
i meant to say the overwhelming number of people hospitalized right now are unvaccinated

where i live, hospitals aren't being overrun like last year but at this rate it'll probably get there soon. and the vast majority of those hospitalized will be unvaccinated

Building a PC for the first time as I read this. I would have never imagined I be doin this 2 yrs ago but the pandemic has "forced" me to do other things and I quite like this. I want the pandemic to be over like everyone else but im rolling with the punches right now.

The problem is obviously not the cancellation but rather that the tournament was played at all given the circumstances (these circumstances being the strict rules and limits in place). I mean, did the organizers seriously consider it realistic to arrange this tournament with no players getting infected? Amateurish.

Just cancel everything at this point. Let's start with a blank piece of paper. We have all the parameters. We know the data. We now have the knowledge and the intelligence. Let's start listening to that instead of this archaic bullshit. That would be a start.

Ironically enough I was sitting in a hospital waiting room just after having gotten my COVID booster when I saw the announcement the tournament had been canceled

That is a stupid argument as it is complete anecdotal. I know 7 people personally who died, three in my family. Does that make it more deadly?

Extrapolated over the population of the earth .5% is 40 million or twice the number of dead from WW1. Minimising that makes you come off as a bit of a bad person.
You can make any numbers look bad, quite easily. What would be really interesting, is if the government could break it down.
-# of covid deaths beyond the average life expectancy for an given country.
-# of deaths in the terminally ill or severe underlying conditions.
-# of deaths in otherwise healthy people.

We won't see that though because it would spark a revolution.
