GDT: 2022 WJC Gold Medal Game FIN vs CAN 6pm MT, 8pm ET 2022-08-20

Oh man, fell asleep before the game even started. Just watched the 20 mins highlights. What a match. And the overtime chance Finland had and botched it. Then I knew this was not gonna be Lions! night but the hockey gods favoured the home team once again to even the fortunes after Tampere WC final. Even if it hurts it was higher justice served and we cannot complain. There are no more supreme courts than that.

Congrats to the winners, oh Canada!

Edit: I mean, you lose all your god-given rights to whine about it if you simply cannot capitalize an open net chance one feet away. In a match like this you will pay for such a stupifying fumbling dearly and bitterly.

Just drink the bitter herbs now, boys. Pour the sour tonic deep inside and let it burn and warm your inner cavities and gradually and finally do its famous, even if pain-staking magic. And you will come out stronger.

That’s the deal.

Why do we always start the "Canada is missing players". It is a fact that Canada has massive depth and they rarely get their perfect team to play in these tournaments.

Super proud of team Finland and finnish hockey system. We went from country that was able to produce grinders and maybe win bronze to country that is currently favorite along Canada to win gold and produce first round talents every year. I still remember how bad it was before Barkov/Laine/Aho

I used to get mad at these comments, but I can't anymore. Keep it up.

I love how the general stereotype about Canadians is that they are very humble and nice, yet when it comes to hockey, it's the complete opposite... Well, I'll allow one thing to get very cocky about, could be a worse thing.

I was in the great outdoors, camping, so did not see the game. Penalties seem very lopsided, what does that reflect?
 
Congrats to the players and fans of Canada (not gonna congratulate Hockey Canada though…)! Also, kudos to Finland for being such a good hockey country these days, always competing for the gold without having the same depth or top-end talent as other teams. Shows that they have great coaching, structure and well-trained players.

Maybe Canada could be awarded 2-3 or more golds from this tournament?

Other countries can't catch up with the domination these boys put up on and off the ice
