Berrios hasn’t been great but the Jays have found ways to win when he starts;

Record with the following starters;
Berrios: 16-5
Stripling: 9-6
Manoah: 12-8
Gausman: 9-10
Ryu: 4-2
Kikuchi: 6-11

Berrios has had such a weird season.

He’s had 6 starts where he’s been destroyed and the team is 2-4 in those games and he has an ERA of nearly 15.00.

In his other 15 starts he has an ERA of 2.80 and the team is 14-1.

Total feast or famine. But he’s probably been better than his numbers in that most nights he’s given good pitching and given the team a good chance to win.

Great find, those stats are interesting. I dug a little deeper.

4 of those starts were in April and May when he was presumably tipping pitches with his mouth. And 5 of those 6 starts, Jansen wasn’t his catcher.

In his other 15 starts he has an ERA of 2.80 and the team is 14-1.

12 of those starts were quality starts. And the 3 other starts;

5 innings with 3 ERs
5.2 innings with 3 ERs
5.2 innings with 1 ERs

Pretty much all 15 starts were quality starts.

Based on this, I’m not too worried about adding a top starting pitcher at the deadline. Insurance would be nice but don’t need to expend assets on a top guy.

Gausman and Manoah are solid. Berrios is coming around and Stripling is our 15-16 version of Estrada. I believe in Kikuchi when he has Jansen.

I wouldn’t mind adding a Syndergaard or Eovaldi as a multi inning reliever who can start if there is an injury.

On July 12th, Yankees lost to the Reds, they barely won on the 13th against them and lost the next day to them. Yankees should just give up at this point.
Astros were just swept by Oakland. How can anyone take them seriously? Their season is done..
The Yankees and Astros both have their divisions locked up. There's a big difference.

You can see where Montoya got some of his foolishness. Cash felt the need to hit Siri 5th much to the benefit of the Jays. Hitting a stellar .178 in limited time in Houston.......Anything with a new car smell.

giant and white sox fans not happy not doing a damn thing. half wanted to sell the other half wanted to buy. standing fast wasn't a option lol

I'd be really confused as a Giants fan, perhaps even concerned.

They're letting a complete outlier year go to their heads. Pretty much everyone has taken a step back, Posey's gone and their prospects haven't quite settled in.

They shouldn't be standing pat. They should have been looking for value to continue their rebuild.

yeah id be the same with the white sox they were suppose to be the next dynasty along with the padres but they have struggled all there ifa steals have underperformed there unstoppable rotation and bullpen have looked paltry

both teams should have either bought or sold

gsays the rays commentators are not even trying to hide there bias completely disregarding stats to help prove a point

With the White Sox you can make the argument what's supposed to be the core of that team is still relatively young. LouBob is only 24, Eloy is 25, Vaughn is 24. Anderson is really the only guy who is near 30 at 29. Same with the pitching side with Crochet/Cease/Kopech all being in their mid 20s. No need to do anything drastic since you still have time.

With the Giants it's the complete opposite. everyone on that roster that matters is 30 or older with the exception of Webb.

Boy it would have been nice if they didn't flush away an out on sending the slowest man in baseball on what was obviously a shallow hit.
