But did he get better and better? I always said Tkachuk would be a 2nd liner with a unique skillset. Were in d+4 and what is he?

Anyway? Brady and Juraj are very different to me. One was a sure thing, the other is a huge swing for a homerun.

He's quite easily a first line winger.

The guy is huge. Stronger than men he plays with. Never loses a puck battle. He’ll win his puck battles in the NHL this season. He might grow some more. 6‘5, 6,6?
Will he be able to score on NHL goalies? Sure, Dach is bigger than the centers available, and he went 3rd in a stronger draft, but he also messed up his wrist and Chicago was ready to let him go as part of a rebuild.

Hughes must know he can ship guys out.

I'm a sucker for seeing a new prospect in the Habs colors. Just can't bring myself to hate on a young new member of our team.

Also for the record (because I know this thread is going to get disected in 5 years and I will be personally crucified on here), I only ever hated the idea of drafting Slafkovsky 1st overall because it meant we would miss out on the chance to solidiy our top 6 center position. I said this many times over the last couple months. I'm super particular about team building.

I actually like the pick a lot better now that we have acquired a prospect in Dach that has the potential to be that big #2 center for us. I'd take Dach and Slaf over Wright and Romanov any day tbh.

His Liiga numbers are still dog shit terrible and a massive red flag, but he has all the tools to be a great player. If Slaf and Dach both pan out, we're going to be a serious threat.

Yeah, that's the thing.

Slaf has all the tools, and most scouts realize that.

I wanted Wright, but we'll see if the Dach experiment works. If he's KK, well, I wanted to match that stupid offer. If Slaf becomes a 35 goal, big winger, we're good. If we stack that line with Suzuki and Cole, that's ok too. lol
We're sill in a rebuild and can find a top 2C.

That's the thing. Dach is exactly where KK was last year but no one is going to OS Dach. I've said it on a previous post but I'm not exactly sure about this trade/gamble. I believe it was quite obvious, after not picking Cooley/Wright, that the current management had another plan in mind for the center spot. But was this trade, as others have said, made too soon? I'm far from being an expert on prospects or young players.. but a lot of people have question marks about this specific move. People liked him in his draft year.. not so much since then.

Imo. Stacking the picks like Chicago is doing was the thing I thought they'll do. We'll see if they're geniuses or not.

I do have question marks. Who would not? I mean Dach doesn't look better than JK. But it's always dangerous to paint a prospect as a bust before he turns 23. That's why i advocated to match JK's offer sheet last year so i would be an hypocrite to dismiss Dach since he's as good a prospect as JK was last year. But it's definitely close to midnight for Dach if he doesn't take the next steep next season it will be very concerning. But almost nobody was saying that about JK at the same point of his career (last summer). I wish we would have drafted 13th instead but i'll wait and see. At leas Mintyukov was not avalaible 13th.

Slaf seems to produce better under pressure and in front of big audiences like he proved at the Olympics and at the Worlds. I think he will do well in Montreal then.

If Habs get a top 4 pick next year forget a 2C they're getting a top line C

Damn it I wanted Ostlund. Top C potential no question. A guy to have moved up to get in my book.
