That's the thing. Dach is exactly where KK was last year but no one is going to OS Dach. I've said it on a previous post but I'm not exactly sure about this trade/gamble. I believe it was quite obvious, after not picking Cooley/Wright, that the current management had another plan in mind for the center spot. But was this trade, as others have said, made too soon? I'm far from being an expert on prospects or young players.. but a lot of people have question marks about this specific move. People liked him in his draft year.. not so much since then.

Imo. Stacking the picks like Chicago is doing was the thing I thought they'll do. We'll see if they're geniuses or not.
Hughes said that once they heard that Dach was available, they were in. They wanted Dach.

I know hes skilled and all and I could 100% be wrong but theres some significant flaws in his game that scare me. Hes not even lanky, theres no physical growth left to him, a few pounds here and there.

The guy is huge. Stronger than men he plays with. Never loses a puck battle. He’ll win his puck battles in the NHL this season. He might grow some more. 6‘5, 6,6?

I'll go out on a limb and say we pick Hutson at 26 to fill the void after trading Romanov. It'll bring a PMD element to our D prospects that's lacking.

I'm guessing they moved Romanov because they felt comfortable Guhle will do better than him in a similar role.

Man....your points are completely opposite of what bird dogs think. They believe he hasn't even figured out his physical capacity yet. You even mentioned today that it takes longer for lanky teenagers. His development was immense this season.
He is NOT lanky though. Hes beeg, beeg. Obviously hes gonns get stronger, but thay physical edge is going to stay neutral to slightly positive?

I have a feeling this is just history repeating itself
It was 2 seconds for Shaw. Habs would have had the opportunity to draft DeBrincat and Girard.

Talking of Girard, why not a trade with Avs to get him ?

That's hilarious cause 1/2 hr ago you hated the pick lol

You're a good sport lol

I'm a sucker for seeing a new prospect in the Habs colors. Just can't bring myself to hate on a young new member of our team.

Also for the record (because I know this thread is going to get disected in 5 years and I will be personally crucified on here), I only ever hated the idea of drafting Slafkovsky 1st overall because it meant we would miss out on the chance to solidiy our top 6 center position. I said this many times over the last couple months. I'm super particular about team building.

I actually like the pick a lot better now that we have acquired a prospect in Dach that has the potential to be that big #2 center for us. I'd take Dach and Slaf over Wright and Romanov any day tbh.

His Liiga numbers are still dog shit terrible and a massive red flag, but he has all the tools to be a great player. If Slaf and Dach both pan out, we're going to be a serious threat.
